OllieR
Hi guys owned my R33 GTST S1.5 (S2 engine and ecu etc) for 3 years and I have installed a manual Turbosmart Boost Tee along with some other bits (see below) I have disconnected the vac hoses from the standard solenoid, and connected the boost tee inline with a source from the main inlet intercooler hose and the waste-gate actuator and plugged the hose to the return/recirculating pipe as per all good threads on here. It’s boosting at a stable 7 psi, however when I took the car past 5k rpm in 3rd on full throttle, the boost jumped to 10psi and held there all the way to the redline. The same in fourth gear. Why would this happen? I don’t class it as a spike as it is stable and predictable. i don’t have a aftermarket dump pipe etc. Runing the standard ECU. Standard turbo Any advice would be appreciated. Mods: Blitz pod air filter R34 SMIC Japspeed down pipe only (with standard turbo elbow) Decat Japspeed 3” cat back exhaust. Turbosmart boost T and Boost gauge Cheers! OllieR
Has anyone had issues with the ball and spring gate setup on the Turbosmart manual boost Tee? Do people remove the ball and spring on the R33 GTST’s? im thinking of trying this next. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475670-manual-boot-tee-issues-same-old-questions-sorry-i-have-searched-loads/#findComment-7894607 Share on other sites
KiwiRS4T
Sounds ideal - bit of extra power when you want it! Can you return the boost T as faulty and get another? Try disassembling it and give it a clean and oil. Sure you have the hoses that bleed off and to the actuator the right way round? GTSBoy
Almost sounds like you still have the factory solenoid in line. Standard that does 5psi bled up to 7. With another boost tee in line, set to 7, that would probably do 7 up to 10. You damn sure you disconnected it? OllieR
Thanks guys, no vacuum lines attached to the standard solenoid, just left it electrically connected. id like to run closer to 10 psi all the time but don’t want to risk a 3psi jump at the top of the Rev range. Cheers. OllieR
Checked hoses, replaced with new vacuum lines and removed existing T-Piece etc. Will test drive in the morning. OllieR
Doesn’t seem quite as bad now, maybe a 1psi increase at high rpm, still under 10 psi so safe. I did feel a flat spot at 65000 rpm in 3rd though. not sure what fuel pump I’m running, it’s noisey when it primes! Its it more likely fuel related? Possibly ignition, plugs and coils or standard ecu struggling?
