What diff is this

I just bought a parts car (r33 coupe) and I pulled the diff out and shimmed it and I was just wondering if anyone knows what this diff is out of looks different to the other r200 diffs I have seen.

What do you mean you "shimmed it"?  Did you just arbitrarily jam shims in between the outside of the centre and the axle bearings?  If so, don't.  You will f**k it.

That is a mechanical LSD.  Can't really tell if it is 1-way, 1.5-way or 2-way, because you did not show a good photo of the cams (visible in the round openings in the side of the centre's casing).  You do not "shim" them.  In fact you shouldn't "shim" a VLSD either, but let's not have that argument.  The tightness of that LSD is set up INSIDE the centre.  Not outside.

Yea i know they are bad quality photos i just took them when i took it apart and I rebuilt the whole thing and put the shims inside its been running fine. I was told it was just a r200 but i just rebuilt another r200 and it was completely different. these are the only other photos I have

Well, it is "just" an R200.  But it is an aftermarket mechanical centre and I'm not sure which brand or model.

You sure its mechanical locker? Going by the photos it looks like an open. 

OP were their clutch packs underneath the spider gears or a way to lockup the spider gears?

If not you have an open diff here, you can test it by jacking up the car and getting someone to hold the other wheel. See if you can spin it. If you can and there is no resistance there you have an open centre.

I was going to say "I can't imagine how a non-LSD 4 pinion diff could get into a Skyline.  Therefore assumption is it's an LSD."

But a closer look at the one view of the end of a pinion through the opening suggests that it might be open, rather than LSD.  In which case, have you got a boat(?), because it would make a nice anchor.

Open Diff

can't really shim that, options are to get a real diff OR mig up it's mum and lock it.

Well I can definitely say it’s a lsd after shimming it it’s basically a locky spins both wheels every time
