also along with what riverside said, alot of factory intrusion bars leave small spot weld indents that are pretty easy to spot, just looks like four or so little circle dents on the end of the door.

And as for not getting bars put in, i woudln't want to live the rest of my life thinking that my passanger died because i wanted to save $300. We all know compliancing isnt cheap and the cost of it can mount up but seriously, whats a thousand dollars... almost everyone has to do it so get over it.

I had my door trims off the other day to fix a slipping central locking solanoid.

I saw what looks like a big thick metal beam that runs horizontally from one side of the door to the other.

if you were to place the beam at the bottom of the door it looked as if it was roughly half the width of the door. If that makes sense.

The thickest part was around the length of a hand, it then tapered off to a thinner part that would have been roughly the width of a hand on either side.

Much larger than I imagined and doesn't look anything like a bar but rather a large beam. Similiar to what they use in building but it had a moulded look as there were no parts to it where the thickness steps down. ;)
