hi, 

I have purchased a greddy boost controller and have a hard time adjusting it.

I understand gain is in percentage on how much boost you want . I started with 5% and now on 30% which gives me 11psi.I don't know what the percent really means. . 30% of base boost or ... they could have just made it easy by sticking to psi.

 

then gain is set to 15% as I understand gain is used if boost drops at the top rpm, gain will maintain the boost . 

 

start, is what you want the greddy to kick in from. I am not really sure what that means but reading from what people have said, it should be your desired boost -4 psi. so it is set to 7psi.

warning , it is what you want the boost controller to be the limit . i set it to 11 psi

limiter, is again in bloody percentage on how much boost it should release when you  hit 11 psi. i set it to 5% .

 

 

now what I see is , on first gear 7 psi as max but it is usually on 5- 6 psi. 

second gear it hits the 11 psi and stops at 12psi at max ! but again runnig around 8psi range

third , same as second.

 

4th same as 1 st gear.

 

I am really confused and fed up with driving up and down to bloody adjust it .

 

should your boost decrease / increase depending on gear or is it more rev dependent ?

It's not a closed loop boost controller, therefore you CANNOT make the setpoint a psi target.  The main setting is basically the duty cycle of the solenoid.  The bigger the number, the more it is bleeding off and the higher the boost will go.  When you get to 100, it cannot bleed any more and whatever boost you have achieved is all you will get.  Of course,the boost may stop rising or the turbo may overspeed and die before you get to 100 anyway.

The gain (set gain) is for trimming the main control result to eliminate droops or spikes.

Thanks for clarification.

 

i started with set of 0 and gain of 0.

 

now at set of 30ish , I achieved around 12psi and have set the gain to 15%.

 

from reading manual I understood the gain to be used to keep the boost if it drops . So for instance if it boosts to 9psi at 4k rpm and back down to 5psi at 5k rpm, you use the gain and keep raising until it consitantly stays on 9psi from 4k onward.

 

am i reading/ understanding it wrong?

    • I installed it all myself,  It was really easy to install.  I got a professional to do the degas/gas.
    • Finally had some time after working on other projects to jump back on this thing. Pulled all 4 wheels to check the brakes over and lucked out, only needed to bleed them/change fluid to get everything working!    Took it for its first quick spin (around 2km) up the road and ran great! Sounds like I have a left rear wheel bearing that needs replacing and there’s a shake in the steering wheel but the tires are absolutely junk on this thing and had been sitting flat when I went to first look at the car so we’ll see if that’s the cause.   Tach randomly started working but I notice if my hicas light comes on the tach stops working 🙃 yay for electrical gremlins 
    • Bunnings car park it is! if you buy the kind of dampers with the adjustable top on the strut you can see it, red, purple? So many options.
    • Yeh a meagre benefit, what strut tower brace are you using? Eventually all the suspension and tyres are done and you get to ... meagre benefits. Narrow end of the wedge, all that stuff.
    • Yeh not doing anything with spacers at all, ty for the info
