Hey guys,

My mechanic recently sent me a quote to fix all 4 wheels bearings and a replacement starter motor for my RB28 BNR34 GTR.

Does this quote sound reasonable? I'm not qualified to comment on labour costs or the cost of the parts and was hoping to get a second opinion.

The bearings are OK pricewise.  High side, but you have to expect markup over what you can get them for yourself.

The labour to change the rear ones seems exhorbitant. Over 6 hours?

Same at the front.  The spray welding may or may not be necessary, and it is outside labour, but it also seems a bit high.

The start price is probably OK.  The labour for it is probably double what it will actually take.

The service at $300 is probably OK.

I had my front bearings replaced due to noise, didn't fix the problem. Turned out to be my 14 year old rock hard tyres - check that first before replacing all bearings

I wouldn't spend $4400 without getting a second opinion.

Are all four wheel bearings really stuffed?

$120 for diagnosis ...how long did that take and is it even correct.

My theory is workshop sees GTR owner who will pay whatever is asked!

Here I would pay $30 for a Warrent of Fitness check and if the wheel bearings are shot they will fail the car and specify which bearings need doing.

Sounds exe to me, plus 2 hours to replace a starter motor???? Jeez, 15 minutes and you are washing the hands.  I'd also like to see why they want to spray weld??  Loctite could be an alternative if the housing is only slightly larger.
