Try some Redline gearbox oil, (there is a thread on it, do a search) if that doesn't fix it then it's rebuild the gearbox time. About $1.5K should cover in and out and a basic rebuild, as long as there is no damage to the gears themselves of course.

yeh i was thinking of getting a short shifter kit.

skip the short shifter, that will most likely make it worse. Try the redline oil (made a big difference in mine), and you will find it helps if you can blip the throttle on downchanges so you get the right revs for the next gear, then the synchros don't need to work as hard.

i had the same problem, but it was crunching from 1st to 2nd, so i changed the oil to a motul synthetic, and it made it better for about 2 to 3 weeks than my 5th gear was crunching big time, it was such a pain. I spoke to several Gear box shops and they told me it was the synthetis oil i put in. So if i was u dont put in any type of Synthetic oil.

I got mine fixed it cost me $800.00. And i was advised to use only ( Penrite extra light ) i think its like 75w 80 or somthin like that, and its not that expensive either i think autobarn have it but im sure ud be able to get it from coventry auto parts. So dont bother wasting your 100 odd dollars on redline oil, coz in the end it aint gonna make it go away.
