Hey Guys,

Had to replace my Boot/Trunk Lid for my series 1 R33 as the other was broken into. Got one from a guy on gumtree pretty cheap but oh man for whatever reason its not aligning and the gaps are huge, can fit my fingers in them. Anyone have any ideas or what the go is? spent hours on it and got nowhere. The main issue is where the taillights and the skyline garnish is.

Not sure if it is because of the aftermarket tail lights.

See attached photos.

Any help would be great guys.

Pretty sure that's normal, it's the side camera angle and the white paint making it look weird I think.

My R33 has the same sort of gap aswell if I look at it from a similer angle. Mines purple with a black boot so not as noticable.

It's always bugged me aswell but I'm sure it's normal. My purple R33 has it and so does my brothers. I've also seen several others at car meets as well.

I tried to get a close up of the same angle if it helps.

This is getting so annoying. The gaps for my boot are huge and not like others, it's like my boot latch is not catching but it is cause I need to unlock my boot to open it when shut.

I can literally put my whole hand through the gaps and pop open the boot.

If I remove the latch the catches the boot lock the boot sits really well but ofcourse this is not going to work cause I need to lock my boot.

Anyone have any opinions on what's going on here.

Check out these photos. Huge gaps.

Hey guys,

Think I have an idea what the issue is. Removed the bumper and played around with the latches on the boot lid and body but still same. So then I started to look at the after market tail lights and found that possibly these lights may not be 100% correct fitment. Loosened the nuts and pulled the lights out a bit and now its looks normal. What do you guys think? Maybe I can source the original lights and see what happens.

    • Hey, like MBS206 mentioned; I dropped off my short block and rotating assembly Monday. With a quick verification, he believes he can clear it up with just a hone and new rings but he will confirm once the rotating assembly is out. If I were you, I would either go stroker or just replace the block if it does need to be bored over to next size. Block is cheaper then forged pistons.
    • live in the UK, and London has introduced a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) that requires individuals to pay £13 if their car doesn’t meet the required emissions standards.   The standard specifies that NOx emissions must be less than 0.08 g/km (i.e., the vehicle must meet Euro 4 standards or better, which generally results in NOx levels of around 0.08 grams per kilometer).   I reached out to Nissan UK, and they advised me to contact Nissan Japan directly. Does anyone have contact details for Nissan Japan or any certifications of conformity that show the emission details or NOx levels for the RB25DET engine?   Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    • these guys recommended to me and supplied custom 4 inch mufflers, couldn't be happier. They will spec a muffler to your preferred level of sound and know RB's well.  https://spmufflers.com.au/
    • Yeah this used to happen to me every year and a quick call would at least raise the agreed value back up / reduce the premium, but usually both.    That said for the first time on the renewal this year our agreed values went up or stayed the same over the fleet and the premium came down so that was a nice surprise.
    • I don't even go that hard core. I just say "how do you expect me to stay, when you increase my premium, and reduce the value of the car?"   Then play a game of shut the f**k up. Most of the time it's a computer that did the adjustment, and the people will happily change it around for you.
