Hey all, I'm in the market for a basic monitoring tool and wondering if the original OB-Link is still a viable option.

I'm mainly worried about any incompatibility with the newer Android releases. The app was last updated in 2015 and, from what I can see, only needs v2.1. No info or reviews on newer versions.

I've got a spare Xperia Z5 running v8 and was going to use it for Waze anyway rather than having another device like the GReddy Informeter Touch. I could go the ELM327 and Hobdrive or Torque route but can get the OB-Link for a good price so would prefer to go with that.

What's so special about the HKS one? What about a $30 one off ebay?

They were made to work with our cars comms, so they can display a lot more data, you can do data logging, fuel tracking etc.

Hobdrive does work with the cheap ones but a lot of the data display isn't configured.
