Hey all.

Im still looking around at GTR's aswell... Theres a few that I am ready to go and have a look at that I have seen in the trading post and I was wondering if anyone had been to have a look at them and could give me a little bit of an insight or a "heads up" to any of the cars... They are

1. 1996 R33 GTR V Spec in Springvale - $37,500

2. 1996 R33 GTR in Clarinda - $34,900 <-- has been advertised for awhile

3. 1995 R33 GTR with Chameleon paint in Narre Warren - $34,990

4. 1995 R33 GTR in Safety Beach - $39,990 for memory

5. 1995 R33 GTR at Carizma in Abbotsford - $39,900

Any information regarding these cars would be greatly appreciated.... Cheers

Your ability to pick structural damage is simply amazing. Did you have a look at the underside of this car to confirm your first impressions? Next time i'm looking at buying a car do you mind if I use your services as you obviously know your shite. btw where is the gtr you list in your profile?

Yes Sam, you know your stuff, must be from all the years of experience in the trade. Your ability to pick a cut and shut without even looking under a car is out of this world. I'll just keep crab-walking down the street, but hey at least i'm on the road and its not just a dream. Don't worry, daddy will buy you a nice car soon.

:)

Heath,

I'm sure if you ask someone from here in Vic to come with they will. If I can make time I'll come with you just PM me. I remember seeing that that carizma GTR before we bought our's over 9months ago... so that could explain half the story.

Finally, if you think you've found the right car I would recommend taking it to Ben @ racepace or ICE Performance. You really need someone who knows there GTR's and not just any mechanic.

Dunno about everyone else, but I always question cars that have been resprayed, especially different colours. There's an R34 GTR Vspec in QLD for $65K..?? way too cheap, fully resprayed Nismo Blue. I called a mate who knows the industry more than anyone and was told the to stay away as it's been a damaged fix job. Hindisght's a funny thing, I nearly bout an SAU forum members Silver R34 GTR with mega mods, until I called my mate... he gave me a list of problems and damage longer than "Sandown Straight", which was confirmed by Ben from racepace. The car is now for sale at a well know *cough* reputable Import Dealer in the city.

All in all, import or not, it's just a matter of working your way through the crap and with some patience you're sure to find the perfect beast. Unfortunately (I was the same) you assume all GTR's are worth that much, but more than likely there's a hidden reason behind so called bargain price.

:flamed: Sameer - I'll start.

But not about your perceptions on the carizma car but about Bens car AND the principals of previously damaged cars. I haven't seen the Carizma car nor delt with them so I can't comment on your preceptions there.

But Bens car I have seen in action on the Mt Dandy cruise and then again yesterday on the track at Winton. There is nothing dodgy cut and shut about this GTR let me tell you right now. If is has been in an accident (I have no idea if it has or not) most of the time who cares! Bloody my GTR has definitely had a side impact before I bought it but my car travels stright as a die and I have no problems with it what so ever thats come about due to any previous accident history. Some times I reckon people can get a little carried away about a car that has been damaged before. And if I was looking at buying an R33 - Bens car would be high on my list of cars I'd get.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Snowman :) , after Sam's suggestions I've had trouble sleeping at night, lol. Ben at Racepace has checked my car thoroughly and I can confirm i'm not rolling around with half of someone elses car stitched on. Like you I have some previous damage, mine is in the rear left quarter but the repair is more than satisfactory.

Heath, if you can stretch your budget it would be worth having a look at Mesh's car. It a genuine sale, he is moving on to an r34 gtr. From what I can gather he spent some time hunting down a "good one" and there hasn't been an expense spared.

Cheers Ben.. I hope my post hasn't been misinterpreted about cars that have had damage, new paint etc.. I think it's more the unkown extent of damage, unless yor an expert ofcourse. And generrally speaking the perception of imports isn't assuring, thanks to many dodgy importers & cardealers.

I guess it all comes down to one simple thing. Get it checked by someone who knows inside-out the type of car your looking to buy...

a friend of bens who i wont mention's name told me the following:

the car was in an accident

he bought it for 35k with all the mods on it and then swapped the turbs.

Ben then offered me the car for ~50k

nice car n all, but it seemed a bit tired, but thats all good..I took some pics, of the car took it to my mechanic, he said to stay away from that car, the lines werent straight...

so i decided after that bens car wasnt the one for, me, and he got very annoyed about it and so on and so forth....

guys really, how hard is it to look at a car in the light and see if the ****ing panels are straight? go and see the carizma car, you will see...

and ben, i really dont give a flying **** about your car, i just dont like ppl trying to make a fast buck off me, that is if your mate is telling the truth

If its not worth the asking price then you wouldn't have been interested in the first place. What someone initially pays for a car has no relevance to the sale price - a good analogy would be a real estate. Try and buy a stock R then add my mods and you will be looking at close to the $60K mark. In any event there were alot more $ spent from my time of purchase, including an engine rebuild which you were advised of.

From speaking with your 'mates', this isn't the first time you've come out with all guns blazing then move onto the next car of your dreams - thats what annoyed me, the fact that history shows you are a tyre kicker with no proof of your assumptions.

By all accounts its probably a blessing in disguise that the "car wasn't for you" as its been suggested that with you at the wheel we could have been looking at another mines_datsun.

I've got nothing against you or your father Sam, it pays to be prudent when buying anything of value, just in your next dealings can I suggest you be upfront and honest rathing than squirming away with poor excuses.

I'm over it, and as you don't give a "flying fark", I assume you are too.

Hope to see you in a stock R soon.

ok

sorry i went off at you, let me explain myself:

even if i did get the green light to get your car, going from ~100fwkw to 320 rwkw is suicide, and thats right, we dont need another mines datsun..and about your friend telling me this stuff..Im serious, Ill tell ya in private about it
