I've noticed a fair few polished intake manifolds on rb26's I would like to do the same to mine cause it looks pretty shit at the moment with all the black paint flaking off . I was thinking about sourcing a manifold having it polished and then getting my machanic to swap them over . I think I remember reading how they are a real bitch to take off and put back on is this true?. Have most of the rb26's with polished manifolds just been done while the manifold is still on the motor or have they been taken off?.

it is near impossible to get the plenum off while the motor is in the car but it can be done.... if your paying a mechanic this will equal a big dollar excercise due to the hours it takes... most of the plenums you see would actually be chromed as it will almost work out easier to chome as the alloy idnt a very highly polishable grade!! but again it can be done!!! I can garantee most plenums that are painted or polished would have been done when the engine is out of the car, you can polish it in the car but you will only get the top half and it will shit!!!
