How to disassemble and clean solid lifters?

Recommended Posts

I know theres heaps of info on cleaning hydraulic lifters but theres nothing on solid lifters. Im currently taking apart my RB25DET Neo head and thought i could give the solid lifters a bit of a clean. But I want to check here first about how to go with taking them apart before I break them. Or is it not ment to be taken apart? IMG_0985.jpg

Um.......the lifter consists of two parts. The bucket and the shim. The shim sticks out of the top. They are not "assembled". They may be "stuck" together and need some encouragement, but that's all.

What's most important is when you put it back together you find out what the clearances are and sort the shim thicknesses out.
