Hey guys,

Got a custom hardpipe made to go from my highflow 21U to stock airbox on my R33.

They made bungs for the breath and bov return.

Seems to hold boost fine but now the car sounds N/A, no audible whoosh on decel. I can only just hear the bov if I take off the airbox cover and filter.

From what I've been told by others it should be louder with a hard pipe not significantly quieter.

Just surprised and wondering if they're maybe another problem ie bov not working properly.

If they've angled the BOV return towards the comp inlet properly there's no real reason why it should be significantly noisier than the stocker. The BOV noise is really generated at the BOB itself, not where it exits into the inlet pipe.

Hard inlet pipese have a reputation (and a reality) of making the turbo spool/induction noise harder and louder, but I've never heard anyone claim it should make the BOV noise louder.

And, ultimately.....who cares? If you want a loud BOV, then get a hybrid one and vent some.

grab yourself an apexi pod filter if you want bov noise cyka, you do get a reasonable sound from the stock bov then...if you're running a decent amount of boost that is; you won't hear much on 10 psizzle.

    • I understand, thanks. Yeah I wouldn't want the car to tip over, I'll try and use the sills, I don't want to risk smashing the chassis rails. I ordered some rubber pucks that have a hopefully big enough slotting. If the front right gives me trouble I can always just make a wood block. I'll measure and inspect the sills closer once I actually take the car up. I hope so, but the rubber blocks I had in hand so far were pretty damn firm, if they are that hard they won't give much way. I'll let you know what happens. Angle grinding rubber isn't one of my favorite tasks. I'll probably start a build thread soon, for my own documentation and "log" as well as sharing what's going on with the car.
    • Kinda something I have been thinking about.  To be honest, we bought it already driving like that.  So there's no telling how long it actually has been driving like this.  Hopefully damage is too bad when we drop the pan.   I am having a hard time finding a site that sells the solenoid for the 5 speed auto, do you have any suggestions?
    • That'll be most likely down the road...  LOL
    • a stock / option or aftermarket?
    • This is what I've done, add DC until it meets my fuel pressure requirements and above 4500 at over 1bar of boost, I send its mum with 100% DC to both pumps. I'll post up a table soon when I'm free.
