Lol, ......

........... and BP uses it to promote its 98.

Because everyone has heard of ethanol but not everyone has heard of toluene.

And its the people in this forum and similar that kept bp alive because " they dont use ethanol" .

you all think its the best, ahahaha but realy ya getting very similar ( a solvent and lower grade more toxic 98 octane fuel) and accept it as if its not happening. Fools fall for scams like that.

BP Ultimate 98 definitely does not, it's part of their selling point, but yes does use Toluene.

Just a correction to the 98ron info. BP ultimate now uses up to 1% Benzene for the octane boost instead of Toluene, and still uses no Ethanol.

Minimum RON = 98

Minimum MON = 86

Not sure why the switch to benzene as I though Benzene was more carsinogenic than Toluene (that's before combustion though) although they are chemically very similar. Still the only 98 that states in a data sheet NO ethanol that I can find. All others state may contain ethanol % traces, but is definitely not used for octane boost. Puma claims no Ethanol after contacting them (had engine failure a while back on their fuel) but am yet to see a data sheet to back it up. BP ultimate ingredients below:

BK,

The "Aromatics" in BP's ingredients list is going to be largely toluene.

They will be listing benzene and saying it is max 1% because toluene is made from Benzene (simple methylation), and so there may be trace benzene in any toluene they receive. And while benzene is definitely a carcinogen, there is very little evidence to say that toluene is. Hence they can just lump toluene in with whatever other aromatics might be chucked in (and so avoid the hands in the air paint thinner Today Tonight brigade), but need to point out that the carcinogen content is "low".

Probably regarding the "aromatics" I guess, as it is a known octane booster. Toluene is listed as Toxic, while Benzene is a known carcinogen. I'm sure the old BP ultimate listed "Toluene" specifically in concentration regarding BP ultimate though. You make both from crude oil so, yeah. Toluene, pungent sweet smell, Benzene gasoline smell, which is weird because I was under the impression Toluene was essentially paint thinners.
