Hey guys I hope I'm posting in the right forum.

I have a 2009 skyline v36 370 gt. and it started giving me some problems.

1.Inside the interior started to get hot where the pedals are located.

2. it would make ticking sounds.

3(here is where the problem accelerated im not sure all of this is connected. I was riding on a hill and accelerated then as I accelerated my car could not Drive up the hill my rpms were at about 3-4 regular speed but it couldn't do it.

I parked it pushed in reverse and drive it moved.... but as I drove off it sounded like the engine was working but straining at the same time but I was unable to move regularly.

I left it parked up for about 2 days trying to find a mechanic. Found one he ran a diagnostic test on it. the test code p0734 came up.... He told me it may need fluid, solenoid may need to change and some other details..

But we let the car run at idle to see if any more scans would appear... nothing showed we took it for a drive for about 15 mins, the car seemed fine as if the problem never happened.

\Does anyone know what could be the problem?

The code is definitely transmission related but if it seems OK now, perhaps it was a sticky solenoid. Either way, as GTSBoy suggested, take it in to an auto transmission specialist, preferably one who knows these Nissans reasonably well.

I don't know how easy or difficult it is to take out the valve body and check the components within, including solenoids but in light of what you experienced and the nature of the error code, it's definitely worth doing in case the fix is cheaper than a rebuild. Don't let it linger for too long, even if it is seemingly OK again now.

Best advice given I appreciate it. Its just that im located in The Bahamas and finding a good mechanic is really looking for a needle. in a haystack. Everyone is looking out for their pocket so they may tell me anything just to get the job. Ive been doing research about the ATF Fluid and from what I gather only the Nissan metic s fluid is what's best to use. Funny thing is no store on the island has it!

aw man so im ordering a case and parking her up until I can get the fluid and hopefully find a good mechanic in that space of time

Bugger. You've got it pretty tough over there, eh?

Good idea to stay off the road until you can get it looked at properly though. You don't want to strip more life off the transmission than it may already have. Good luck mate.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
