Hello.

I bought myt skyline 4yrs ago. First I drove it thru winter (surprisingly good winter ride). At the spring stock turbo waste got stuck. Car was 3 months in the carage. I put kinuqawa bolt on turbo and cheap low mount exhaust manigold.

It was rest of the summer this way. Then I planned to do some little changes at the winter. But as many of you know things start to get bigger. I start building rollcage and strip whole car down.

When car was tripped it would be stubid not to do some things like stich weldin and sandblasting the body etc.

I also wanted to do some wisual mods and strip everything extra weight out from the body. Rollcage caused some changes also. Like stock heater system is not fitting anymore.

Rear subfame and diff bushes changed to aluminium. Rear and front subframes and stock controll arms got some extra strenght also.

Bash bars in front and back wore made from scratch.

Now car is going back to gether slowly and I hope to get it done before 2030 ?

Here is some picks of it. More you can see from my ig @nuut3ro

Yeah. My point is doing as much as possible by my self and learn in process.

Today was great day in the garage. I laminated first dashboard and took molds for the head light mod. Doing light weight glassfiber covers and bolt projector lights in. On the left side I'll also cut hole for the intake. 20191207_163012.thumb.jpg.e713699c4d638648404785e73ce9dacd.jpg20191207_163025.thumb.jpg.1fc8fa225697f742f7f6501ad86a82c7.jpg

I buoght projector head lights from other skyline guy instead of makin them by myself. He was selling some parts from his car and those was right price.

Original light weight is 2,5kg an those new with projector is only 0,7kg ? That is massiwe weight saving.

First dash removed from the mold. It looks rough. But some sanding and it is fine. This first one is going for sale for my friend who wants that cind of dash. Next time I use more mold war. Took nearly an hour to get it out..

I only did rough trimming for the edges and put it on the scale. This fiberglass dash weights 3,5kg. What original is? I didn't have time to dig out my spare dash to see. My other oem dash went in bad shape in molding process ?

I wanted to see what original dasboard weights. So I put that my spare dash on the scale and it told it's 7,5kg without glovebox and removable panels. That new glassfiber one was 3,5kg without trimming.

Small thins done again.

Trimmed fron fenders hor easier air flow. And laminated outside of front overfenders.

Last time I fitted front bashbar and fron lights on. Bashbar will need some mods to it. Jus to make it lighter and ic mounts stronger. Also fitted water hose from roof vent. No pick of that.

20191228_155531.thumb.jpg.81152a0ceded7513236785835f88b3b6.jpg

And today started to fit ducktail better. I will do some glassfiber parts to edges and fit ducktail permanently to that glassfiber boot. First I make those fitting parts and then laminate them in to wing and then cut boot under it. Anfter that parts will be laminated together. 20200104_152633.thumb.jpg.aeebf89025c92bcc697158b7d79e3156.jpg

Also find perfect place for that 2liter breather tank. Behind of right side headlamp is some extra space so it'll go there. Just need to trim some body a bit.

Front over fenders are now in the shape. Only some (lot of) smoothing needs to be done. 20200109_142134.thumb.jpg.85cf652772de674157d05fd1cb1d168f.jpg

I made my own versio of the dashboard. It is lighter than that what I first did. It is 3,5kg strait out of the mold.

20200125_142741.thumb.jpg.d9b4d4b939454130114dcac1ae70343e.jpg

I started to do fiberglass door cards. It would be easier to do with aluminium, but my door bars are so out and they are going a little bit in the door. So door cards need to follow that small gap between the door and roll cage.

Tere is now only two layers of 350g fiber. I need atleast 1mm thickness for the cards. That means more fiber is must. I only had time to laminate those two layers. Today I had no time to work with sky at all. Inspection of my daily is pushing on and I need to veld exhoust flex and y-pipe to get it ready for that.(last pick)

Well.

That holiday didn't went as planned.

First full day downhill skiing and 4 runs before shit happened...

Downhill skiing and unexpectad jump happened ? it was cloudy and I didn't see that jump (not jumping ramp. Sudenly lost ground under my skiis). And it was crash landing. Fell down and knee twisted because skiis didn't fell off my legs as they should be ?

Now I'm trying to get my knee better before surgery. And after that few months off the work and mayde off the garage too.

I think that off garage season will be long 4-6 months maybe ?

I don't know surgery day yet, but I ca walk with out knee support and stiks. So I'm goin to garage tomorrow. Will do parts for oilpan expansion and try to get engine ready for machining.

Wondering here if anyone has experience of spline drive oil pump gears? Or external oil pump mod? Meaning wet sump with external oil pump. ? Any good and bad things about that ross performance wet sump cit vs spline drive oil pump gears?

Ok. I didn't do a shit for oil pan becouse sheet metall I have is too thin for that. Rememberd wrong and nearest store is 30km away so.

But I got engine ready for machining shop. I add here few pictures. Took 25 picks to make rebuild easier (not going to add all here).

Bolt holes drilled and blug removed. Head oil drain fits here.

    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
    • Pretty sure they run the same engine as the Q50 hybrid which specifies 95 RON.  I ran 98 in mine for a while, but it made no difference in performance or economy, so I have been using 95 for the last few years.  I have never hit 6.0L/100km, but have returned mid to high 6 on the highway.  Being a hybrid, fuel economy is a lot more dependant on how you drive it.  At 110km/h, mine never goes into EV mode on the highway, so returns closer to 7.5L/100. urban driving can return low 8s if you are careful or over 10 if you are a bit more enthusiastic on the throttle.
    • About a quarter of what you want to do. It's only R7R, not R&dismantle&replaceparts&reassemble&R. ? It is stock. I already told you, you will NOT have broken those. It's f**king 4th gear for Christ's sake. You just chipped the teeth off.
