Hi everyone, my name is Nick and im the proud owner of a bare RB26 short block/head.

My project for 2020 is to build a single-turbo RB26 with at least 675 whp.

I have NEVER built a motor from scratch and know very little about the RB.

Please, if you have any advice or tips on how to achieve my power goal, feel free to reach out!

Follow the build on IG: @RB26.Tech

Hope everyone has a fun and safe new year!

Hi and welcome.

pretty much the role of a bottom end is to not explode, the turbo takes care of making the biggest impact on power, followed by cams and porting.

Take your time, measure and triple check everything. depending on what your acutal plan for assembly that is. Building engines, especially highe performance ones, requires quality measuring equipment and knowing how to use it. Bolting stuff together is easy. missing small important details is also easy. Thats pretty much why good engine builders charge what they do, they have the tools and know how, eye for detail and patience to do a proper job.

good luck!

ps. read the oil control thread,

Also, watch the Motive DVD videos with Platinum Racing Products on RB block testing. There may be a certain amount of overhype involved, but if nothing else they do tell you what to look for when testing the block. And I would certainly be testing a block before building. There's nothing worse that pouring $10k of goodies into an engine only to have it fall back out on the road.

Fellow New Jersey-ian ??. Welcome aboard, good luck with the build! Just curious what kind of vehicle do you plan on stuffing the built RB in?

thanks! totally forgot to check this site. will be on here a lot now that parts are here!

I would love to drop this in an S13, but I am also considering finding an R32 or R33

So far I have acquired the following:

NEW RB26 block - 24U

NEW cylinder head - 05U

NEW crankshaft with the extended collar

I am in the process of taking measurements on the crankshaft, so that I can buy main/rod bearings.

One thing I noticed is these engravings on the crank.

does anyone have info on what these mean?

Thanks! hope y'all are staying safe

They're the bearing grades already measured for you. It's all been posted about many times before, so have a little search.

ya you gotta do some more research mate! at this point get all the info you possibly can. understand the build and know exactly where you are going with the build/car. gunna be a nice thread to follow. take your time do things right. i suggest the 6boost manifold for your turbo setup. definitely go with big waste gates for the power you want. haltech and link are good tuning options....
