Just looking at Nick's list, some of the prices seem very off target.

Budget 80k AUD there is no such thing as building a half spec motor, must be big spec OK . And for all the fruit around it add another 50k onto that for a full package. GTRs are big money so you’ll have to cop it on the chin m8

dont want a hamburger with cheese you want a hamburger with the LOT

Yep! What he said, you’ll easily spend your budget around the engine, without even touching it! Good fuel system, decent catch can set up, intercooler, oil cooler, Coil packs, trigger kit, ecu... then you got, wideband, oil, fuel and coolant sensors maybe flex fuel. Let’s not forget clutch, brakes, suspension, gearbox.
They are a fkn money pit! But you ask anyone that owned one, when you get it on a nice open road, there is nothing on the planet like it!
it will 100% be worth it...if you make it to the end

Goodluck my friend!

$15,000 into parts is what I am aiming for. Again, I would be fine with going over - going to try not to.

This is a build someone put together for me, claiming that it should get me to my goal of ~675.

Anyone have experience with any of these manufacturers?

With turbo selection, I highly recommend the 64/66 for an rb 26, it’s a really good match, will make as much as 550kw, comes on nice and pulls hard on boost

Prices definitely seem a bit high considering they are USD.

1: I wouldn't run the "billet intake" on an rb26. Absolutely no benefit over stock and will lose throttle response going from ITB's to a single TB. If anything I would go a plazmaman front half plenum which bolts up to the ITB's. More expensive, but do it properly or stay stock (which is still plenty good enough)

2: Docrace mani = expensive?  6Boost split pulse with twin or single gate is about $1300 AUD. = $900 USD? and likely better quality.

3: Haltech also seems very expensive. Not 100% up to date on their pricing but 2.2k USD seems high. Have you spoken to who is going to tune your car and what they prefer as ECU? There is other options which are also very good and not that expensive. Link, ECUmaster etc

Finally, have you considered buying a "rebuild kit" from a place like spool imports? Well proven over 1000hp atw and decent prices for pretty well the whole bottom end including bearings etc. Hit up a place like "Golebys Parts" who are a dealer for Spool who can customise the kit to include whatever you need. Eg replace cometic HG with a Nitto / Tomei etc which would be recommended. They also do stroker kits etc. Take a look at these links -

    • Yes, but 2 things of the top of my head, 1. Legalities of nitrous on a street car. 2. No chop chop. I fully understand that there's much cheaper ways to make power, and whilst a wet 50 shot is fairly cheap to install, bottle fills are expensive, and bottles always need to be refilled, and nitrous also has its own inherent issues with reliability, and tuning, from my experience of others using nitrous, it doesn't take alot to lunch a engine real quick if something goes slightly wrong when spraying, if I wanted a big chunk of additional powers, a spooly boy would make alot more sense, disregarding the additional engineering, supporting mods and other logistical issues of sticking a spooly boy on a car that came naturally aspirated from factory  In the end I'm not racing for sheep stations, and I don't really care if people make more power, or are faster than me, or spend less, or more than me, the only thing the car needs to do is drive around and make me smile, which it is doing now Really, I just want a shiny new intake to look at when I'm cleaning the engine bay, and of course, some more induction doorts, and maybe even that 5kw for that elusive 200hp cherry on top that I might get If the FAB9 intake plenum, TB and air filter box thing doesn't eventuate for whatever reason, Plasmaman do one, not as fancy looking, and a fair chunk of more cash is required when including the TB and other bits and pieces that are required to install it, but, it is another option that is available to me if FAB9 one does fall down (but I really, really.....really, want the FAB9 one though) TL;DR. You want what you want
    • Been so long since I have been here, seeing SDU is dead. I had that problem on my gtr in 2006 but luckily there was no engine damage,it was inspected by Hytech Engines, race bearings and extended crank collar put in and that was about it. Hopefully yours is sorted now.
    • Would it not be cheaper to just spray nitrous?
