Well mates I went and bunged it up bad this time. I gotta say in 15 years of driving gtr’s the hicas plus some shitty rear tires almost cost me my life and my car for the first time.  2 weeks after having my r32 completely restored quarter panels off with all new trim and weather stripping 12k paint job I decided to go wreck my car and hit a couple hiway signs....cars almost fixed now but damn some dark days.... first pics are when had new paint and looking mint.

Now here’s the ugly....I consider myself lucky that it’s fixable but feels like I wrecked my car even when it’s gunna be fixed....one sad Canadian these days. Hopefully the boys and gals on here can pick a mates spirits back up. I will post pics when we finally get this ol girl back in action.....was going to slap another new rear quarter on there but didn’t want to go another 5k deep into just a panel. Let me know your thoughts of pounding it out and fixing it was a good idea. Car still straight as an arrow

This is not a fun time 😔 feel for ya mate, but you said it yourself a few pages back - its all just metal and you can't take it to the grave!

My 2c on the fender repair - body filler will look terrible over time. If it doesn't crack, it will definitely at least shrink and cause distortions in the surface. The only way to fix that panel and have it last is to replace it.

I'm happy you chose to share. I can imagine how this would feel, I'd be absolutely gutted. I once lost the rear in an S13 and hit a post in the rear quarter. It wasn't huge but just horrible when you spend so much time keeping them clean and maintained.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Happy to see you're ok mate. Sucks your latest post is bad news... Don't worry about the car it's repairable, I've seen way worse than that. Consider yourself lucky in a way. Keep us posted. 👊

Thanks buddy. My body shop will warrantee all the work they did and said it will be good as new. There is actually very little filler on the panel and It really does look good as new now. If it does get weird I will replace the panel as needed. Last time we replaced the quarter panel we had to remove the roof...any tricks on being able to replace that panel without roof removal? I’ve had a lot of guys say I’m crazy to want to replace that panel again. some guys say it’s a waste of time to fix the old panel, some say it is totally fixable. Seems like most the reputable body guys have told me it’s totally fixable and will last a long time if done correct with correct treatment on the inside of panel as well. I dunno I’m a newb when it comes to this body stuff just want it to look good so I can cruise again with my mates! Feel bad for what I did to such a awesome rust free car hut can’t keep beating myself up about it....will post when it’s finished see what you guys think. Cheers thanks for the support.

Couldn't tell you man, body work isn't my strong suit, maybe a few of the other guys can give you some tips but from the little I know that hit isn't that bad and I would believe the panel shop IF they do it properly it will last for years.

Well mates I’m no body expert but I think my car looks better than before the crash. All the work is complete just Have to put back together now. Can’t believe she’s back I feel blessed to get a chance to enjoy the car again but with more respect. Almost fakin died mates need to relax and drive slower. Good lesson to be learnt here for all the aggressive mofo’s out there. Enjoy your r32s not that many nice ones left.

I forgot to add, in this process I ordered all new glass yet again(exept front window)...im just an average joe in canada here and finding parts can be hard for me. I could only find one rear oem glass for sale through rightdriveparts.ca the rest of the glass i found easy.  i didnt mind the 2000 canadian dollars to get one but found it hard to believe there's only one glass in japan for this car. does anyone know where else to find rear glass for bnr32 in future?  Trust kikaku only had used ones.  also i want to send my engine to australia for a nitto build soon...any phone numbers or names of shops would be greatly appreciated. thanks good buddies.

This is the 89 Gtr I was lucky enough to pick up off a friend who’s heart just wasn’t in the car anymore. He purchased it after his father passed and then the clutch went on him and it sat ever since behind a tractor dealership for years. Gunna get it running and will keep posted till we reach a nice single build on e85 with this one. Very clean for how long is sat outside. Will be a great project for my wife to learn the ways of the bnr32. I am lucky to have someone that lets me enjoy my true passion of r32 gtr’s. There is literally no gtr culture here where I live but it’s become part of my blood over time....

yeah i know haha its crazy high in the front i dont know whats up with that. there is no transmission in it right now so hopefully looks normalish once i get the car running. but i doubt thats why its sitting so high something probably wrong. the struts look like there mounting incorrectly too.  im going to get it running and work the bugs out, then the engine is going to australia for a build...let the slippery slope begin and the wallet decrease at a rapid rate.

Been in the dust for to long this beauty I’m falling in love yet again haha...nice ol gal here. The dash and seat look new or I’m as high as the front end on this car.

Please tell me you've at least bought some decent tyres for the one you crashed!?!

yes i had them on order before it even happened, they are on the car already for some shredding. just went with some cooper zeons for now until i find some nice 18s for it and lace them with some toyo R888.

Doin the clutch today and get car running by weekend, I was wondering if anyone has ever imported a gtr from Canada to Australia? I have a friend on the site who may want this car and I’m trying to do some research for him. Thanks good mates.

    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
    • That depends, someone might offer me a good price to resell it Mark... Ha ha ha!   I can get it wrapped in a really nice looking carbon fiber vynil if you want?
