I have a 1998 skyline R34 "standard" (GT or GTS) I believe they are called, it is not a gtt, but I would like to put gtt rotors and calipers on it.

if I get a set of good used calipers and rotors would these GTT rotors and caliper components bolt to the stock GT components hub/knuckle etc or would entire caliper mounting hub need to be swapped out to accept mounting of the GTT calipers? also would the current lug bolt pattern be the same so current wheels can be used?

so from what I can find out, it seems that most agree that If your r34 non turbo car still has the standard GT brakes setup that the brake rotors and calipers from a GTT will bolt right up to the no turbo stock hubs, a few holes will have to be drilled larger to accept the calipers, but sounds like it would work. all agree or any other input?

You do need to drill things to use the GTT brakes.

The R34 GT (non turbo) uses R33 GTST sizing for things. You will be able to directly bolt R33 GTST brakes (front and rear) directly to a R34 GT.

That said, the entirety of "Drilling things" is making one 12mm hole a 14mm hole.

Source: Did this ?

The alternative, and nicer way to do it is to make up replacements for the 14mm inserts on the 310mm 4 pots with a 12mm thread in them. You just press out the big ones and put them in the cupboard, press in the 12mm ones and no drilling required. Just needs someone with a lathe, a tap and a knurler and 15 minutes per insert to make them.

^-- this is also a decent way. to do it. Probably the best way. There's many ways, I just meant to say that some minor work is required to get them to fit due to the different bolt size between GTT and the GT.

This is one of the "GT is just ... lower specced" things, like different ABS system, different bolt on brakes, S15 axles, balbalbala.

You'll most likely get a different answer from each person you ask on this but for me they do bolt straight up.

The R34 GTT brake I got bolted straight up onto my 25GT.

25GT and GTT both used 14mm bolts and even in parts catalogues they use the same bolt being 41005-AA000.

    • Is the 650rpm idle on the rb25det neo for stock cars only? I've never had my car before and after tuning it to idle at 650rpm when cold. Always idle's cold around 1100rpm, and then drops to about 900-950rpm. I've heard the r33 gtst's idle there.

    • Ha ha, all good! I've almost caved in and realised I'm buying one.  I know myself well enough by now that I will start chasing ADHD butterflies half way through building it and not finish it so I'm better off spending the extra money buying one instead of making one just so I can get into straight away.  I would very much enjoy making one as fabrication is probably a strength and definitely a passion but I don't want that to be at the detriment to the car I'm ultimately building it for! There's some pretty good ones around for ~$1100 at the moment so I think I'll just go that way.  At the end I sell it or as mentioned, get another project to make further use of it! Thanks gents.
