Thinking of going even taller in the rear end

3.07, or even possibly 2.87

The 3.46 gears are much better than the 3.91 that were originally in it, and for all of the hwy cruising I do, and with the amount of torque the car has just off idle, and the stalled slush box to get the engine spinning I think the longer gears will give me more manners down low, and good fuel economy on the hwy

......

I have a 4.11 in mine, and a .63 6th instead of a .50.

Even with these (relatively insanely) short gears, my 1000kmh idle is like 1800rpm. With the .50 it was 1600ish? With the rear ratios you are talking about, I don't know honestly why you don't get a 4cyl econobox and play V8 rumble through the speakers.

How do you find 3 & 4 gear with the 4.11? especially on race tracks.
Looking at LS conversion for new car and hard to get info on the nissan 3.9, 4.08/4.11, 4.3 ratio with the 6speed

And after almost hitting a roo on my last adventure down the coast I want one of these smart bar plastic roo bar thingies

Currently got the feelers out and on the hunt

They have been known to do more damage to the car than roos......
Insurance will cover repairs if you do hit one.

Because I like 500hp v8 rumble

I'm at 2300rpm at 110kph with the 4l60e and 3.46

Meh, in the end the car is a cruiser with some poke, it isn't a race car, it doesn't get locked in a garage all week/month, if I can have it fast, and somewhat economical on the hwy I call that a win

Source: me doing what you doin. This is with limiter of 6600 and 265/35/r18 tyres, and a 4.08 rear.

So, turns out it is 2123kmh at 1000kmh. The regular T56 6th gear is 1696kmh in 6th. Making before what I said a little fake news.

Also I forgot it's auto, yet again. I also just realised that the numbers I pasted right now are a mix of 4.08 but the rpm at 100kmh is the 4.11 rear. Cause I clearly am not sure which one I actually have in my car cause it makes no difference unless you're doing it all in excel 😐 😐 😐

I find the ratios to be near on perfect - That said I bought the magnum for the 5th gear being shorter which makes a mental difference but testing it IRL and in simulators like assetto corsa showed actually no difference in pace 😛

Thats the info I needed, Legend.
I better start looking for a decent LS conversion kit.

Damn it

Got a "letter" in the mail

80 kph in 70 kph zone late last month

It was on an off ramp heading off the M5 near Casula

1 point and $128, not a big hit cash or points wise, but I've lost my gold licence, Mark has a sad

New headlights as the current 20 year old headlights have alot of really fine cracks that don't buff out of the plastic

Do I really need them, nah, because really you can only see them in a certain angle and a certain light, but at $200 for the pair delivered "why not"

Heading into Goulburn to lunch with the daughter

Ambient temp was 18°c

Pre interchiller it would sit around 35-40°c at the same ambient temp

The R888R's on the rear are performing really really well and have been surprisingly good in the wet and standing/flowing water (small rivers running across the Hume Hwy)

Bogan life is good 👍

Gave the car a wash, wax and detail, and while I was buffing off the wax, that I seductively applied by hand, and I mean sticking my hand in the Meguiars tub of wax and then massaging it in lovingly into the paint work, I hooked up an old water bottle and drained the SAAS AOS

That's 5k km of blow by "stuff", not bad for supercharged old girl with nearly 150k km on it

After smearing love and draining blow the car spent the night gallivanting around in the city, ended up at the girls, wasted, and slept out in the garden, it is now covered in 11ty thousands of pine needles

I was talking with the guy from Craigs Automatics, who built my 4l60e, about going taller diff gears i.e. 3.07 or even 2.87, there recommendation was not to go any taller than the 3.46 gears that are currently in it because of the current converter specs, engine power and the 3.46 gears

He believes the current custom billet converter in the 4l60e is near on being maxed out reliability wise for the current rear gears and power the car is now making, which makes sense as the converter was originally speced when NA for around 500nm (currently around 900nm "ish") with 3.9 gears, he said that going any taller gears would probably overheat the converter and trans more than the current trans cooler can deal with and it would end up in tears, on the side of the road, he recommended that I just get some drag radials and be done with it 🤣

So basically taller gears will require a new converter, but, as I'm a "while we're in there kind of guy" that could end up down the proverbial rabbit hole of the T400 with overdrive that keeps popping up in my feed, and is also blindingly expensive

I'm also trying to find some new R888R in 275/40 17 to wrap up and stash away for the future, the current set on the rear are at about 50%, so probably about another 5k km away from needing to be replaced, it seems like I'll get about 10k km from a set of rears, but, currently I'm struggling to find any on hand anywhere, I have got Tempe Tyres to give me a stock alert for when they get some more in

While we are talking tyres, I'm heading into St George tyres tomorrow to try and grab some Mickey Thompson ET Street 275/40 17 to put on another set of 17 x 9.5 Simmons FR1's for special occasions.......yes, I know.......LOL

It's like a disease 🤪and car parts are the cure

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
