Tailshaft bushes and centre bearing was fine, torqued up all suspension and steering nuts and bolts under the car

Need to go to the drags again and see how it goes at higher than Hwy speeds now (over 80mph)

I will get all my wheels rebalanced first

So, after alot of googling the vibration "may" be coming from the transmission 

"Apparently" vibrations in a 4l60e can happen at higher speeds if the line pressure isn't right, which is what's happing

So, as the trans was due for a service in Jan 23 anyway, it has been booked in for the service at Craigs Automatics, while it's there they said they will look at the tune and see if they can "page up" the line pressure a bit in the old slush box

Next run at WSID is hopefully 21 Dec 22

Purchased one of those brake bleeders that connects to my air compressor....... "where have you been all my life"

After putting it up on stands and removing the wheels a full brake flush took no more than 5 minutes, nice

Then....whilst it was up there..... 

Ended up going OCD and gave at undercarriage a full power wash, sprayed everything with silicone spray, and then wiped it all down, now all the bits that you cannot see look so shiny and purdy....LOL

The interior then copped a full detail with the bissell spot cleaner and steamer, the interior looked pretty good before I started, but the manky water that the bissell sucked out proved other wise, but it has been 12 months since the bissell last seen any action inside the car

The engine bay is next, well tomorrow, for a detail, followed by exterior washing and waxing all ready for a cruise down to Goulburn on Thursday for my daughters attestation at the police academy on Friday 

My daughter has asked me to wear my service dress, and Jackie has grabbed a fancy outfit for the occasion, the car will be on point like it is on a military style "boots and saddle parade".....so.....

Weather warning: you just know it is going to be pissing down in the Southern Tablelands on Thursday and Friday, and they will probably want me to park in some unsealed carpark....LOL

Which model of the bissell steam cleaner are you using? Is it one of those you can get at supercheapauto?

I quite like the idea of doing that to get 20+ years of gunk out of the carpets in the car. Have been holding off though as I wasn't sure whether the "cheapy" ones would be any good.

Yeap, that's the one

I use it around the house on small spills and stuff as well

If you haven't "wet vacced" the seats or carpet for 20 years you will definitely need to give it a few goes

Be prepared to change water that looks like diarrhoea

Haha, see how it goes! Good to know that it works out alright. Don't know if it has been that long, but I wouldn't be surprised. The cabin filters certainly looked like it when I replaced them.

Will keep an eye on supercheapauto and wait for a sale.

I have a bissel thingy but yet to actually try it on car, or carpets. Not really sure why as I recently cleaned the car.. and carpets. Could use it on door inserts too. Pretty easy to remove the rear seat out of the car too. In short, I have been lazy.

Thankyou for mentioning this vaccum brake bleeder thing, now that I know that exists my life is 4% improved.

Got the transmission serviced today at Craigs and talked about the vibration, found what is causing my vibration at speed, the Tuff mounts

The ones I have have the red poly in them, so pretty firm, under load at speeds over 100 mph harmonics from the engine are transferring the engine harmonics through the K frame sending the vibration to to the steering rack and body

They recommend that I go back to rubber if I want to get rid of it, they also said that it isn't a issue, apart from the NVH, as I need lower engine mounts that the OEM rubber ones for bonnet clearance that unfortunately isn't a option

It is apparently a common issue with hard poly and solid engine mounts in some cars, he had red Tuff mounts in his 1200hp Skyline and had the same issue, same same for some of the drag cars he works on

Tuff mounts do a black poly that is softer and would be a little better but as it only happens at the drags, from 100mph - 124 mph, I probably won't swap them out

I other news we want down to Goulburn to watch my daughters Assentation, parked up in the police academy and proceeded to have "all" of the police checking out the car, luckly the all agreed it was a nice build, a little loud, but nothing that would cause them concern 

I did feel like a rabbit in a spot light for a while though

sounds like you should have bought a nissan v8 not a holden. Cima came with active engine mounts so as not to trouble Japanese execs with such things.

The standard holden mounts were fine, until I put thermal spacers under the blower and the bonnet wouldn't close

The clearance issue was temporarily fixed with the reverse cowl bonnet, but, it took 2 weeks before I hated the look of it

Meh, first world modification problems 

And yes, "driving into the loins den" is exactly how it felt...🤣

As for pricks, yeah nah, I've only been hassled by the police when I've done something stupid, getting pinned for an illegally modified car for example is a fair cop in my opinion

I've got alot of cop mates, and my daughter is now one, they do a hard thankless job, and in reality, if you don't do stupid stuff, or blatantly break the law they leave you alone

There job is to enforce the law, whether or not I agree with the laws means nothing

They are the ones who stand between you and the crazy taking the fire

Yeah, it's cool man, I've seen and heard about the stuff they go through on a nearly daily basis, first responders see the worst of people, and people at their worst time, like MVA, murders, assaults, suicides and the like

I've seen some pretty horrific stuff, and been in the odd sticky predicament, but nothing like the saturation they deal with, like ambos and fire fighters, it is a real common occurrence and a head f#ck

I am sometimes to quick to judge and go partial retard  when people go on about the police, sometimes a joke triggers me

Finally stuck the new head lights in

Just need to go to the "big warehouse" at work, turn off the lights in the warehouse and align them better

They are level, but probably not at the correct height or centred correctly

The Mrs commented that there was a little drone on the Hwy in cruise doing 110, I never noticed it, but meh, I got the local exhaust shop that built my exhaust to throw in a resonator

Space was limited, so they fabricated a custom little 12" x 4" in and out, round resonator with a 5" body that fits like a glove

I'll need to wait till we go for a cruise this weekend and see if she even notices, but, it has smoothed out the "rage" from the exhaust at WOT, it isn't exactly quiter, it has just lowered the tone down a bit, I actually think it sounds better now

And it didn't cost a thing, winning....I love free stuff

Full wash, wax and detail, so you know it's going to rain this weekend when me and the Mrs go for a cruise to Robertson pie shop

Also removed the sub, amp and associated wiring from the boot of the car

The aftermarket Pioneer head unit and speakers are sweet anyway, the sub just made stuff rattle, I forgot how much room for activities the boots in these things have

I've also decided to further investigate the vibration I get at the drags over 100 mph, it will be getting the driveshaft reconditioned and rebalanced with new uni joints, center bearing and couplings

In other Mrs related news, the car is still to loud for her liking when starting it in the morning ( #because the neighbours), "sigh", so I am contemplating getting a 4" Varex oval muffler for the rear, wired im to a momentary switch, when it is closed I'm hoping she stops breaking my balls, when it is open, I assume it will probably be louder

Hardy Spicer in Moorebank did a reco on my tailshaft so it is now back to new....OEM spec IRT couplings, uni's and centre bearing (that puppy was trashed), it is all balanced up and within specs........soooo......

I'm going to WSID tomorrow to see how it likes some tailshaft speed

They said due to the power I'm making the front and rear OEM style couplings probably won't last to long if I'm launching it hard with drag radials, and if I'm doing alot of high tailshaft speed runs (read: at the big end at the drags) the centre bearing will also not be enjoying life

A fancy new 3" 2 piece tailshaft with super dooper big uni's and some special centre bearing that can cope with all of the rpm's and all of the killerwaps is apparently only $2.5k away, so as my max rpm is only 6k rpm, that is an over engineered option available for when I chew out my new OEM spec one
