Another question I have I wanted to get a 2.5 inch exhaust for my r31 just wondering if use know a good site to order them off or a certain brand..? Iv been told eBay but thought I鈥檇 ask use first

Get a local exhaust shop to fab up a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back using two quality mufflers. Will sound nice and you might make an extra 1kW up top.

Sweet as will do cheers, another question sorry if I鈥檓 doing heads in.. I wanted to improve the air flow I was gonna do a basic pod filter but my brother was telling me to get a growler kit any thoughts ?

If any thing don鈥檛 worry about the exhaust just found out if I鈥檓 going to turbo my car I鈥檓 gonna need a bigger exhaust 2.5 inch is no good, would a growler kit be okay with a turbo though?

Do you reckon a growler kit would be good for a r31? Especially if I鈥檓 gonna turbo it eventually would I be able to keep it on or no?

What? no
best upgrades on my R31 are:
good tyres
working dampers
GTS/HR31 front brakes
manual conversion
3.9 auto LSD diff that doesn't whine
GTS1/mild cam

I was going to get the exhaust but a mechanic told me no point wasting money if the car is non turbo and Your planning to turbo it then a 2.5 inch exhaust is waste of money because I鈥檒l need a bigger exhaust...? Is that true?

@Ben C34 very true, but if I鈥檓 gonna spend money I don鈥檛 want to be wasting it to much only want to get things that I need an if I鈥檓 gonna turbo the car no point getting a 2.5inch exhaust only thing is I鈥檓 trying weigh up is if the growler kit is worth it..? If I get it will it be the same thing with the 2.5inch exhaust..? If so is there anything I could do to the car that will help the air intake and what not without it getting in the way when I eventually throw in a turbo kit

If you're going to turbo the car, your first step would be to put the turbo on the car, and then get all the associated parts on it to support it (exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, ECU, etc)

What ever this growler kit is won't help you in that endeavour

Turbo + fuel system + ECU + intercooler + pipework + exhaust manifold + oil&water plumbing to/from turbo + exhaust + dump pipe + installation work for oil supply and drain, etc. + tuning.

The list really should include upgraded brakes.

Oh, and you're in Victoria. So what you are proposing is not road legal. You will need to pay for engineering.

@GTSBoy I would want it to be street legal

I鈥檓 trying to make it full on just basic turbo an psi and what not.. even if you can recommend a garret turbo would be much appreciated.. I know there鈥檚 different sizes an what not so if you can recommend one that鈥檒l fit good an wont go to hard to not be street legal

Iv been looking around found one on market place he reckons it came off a Jeep commander an reckons it鈥檒l be good for a r31 but I鈥檓 not sure which is why I鈥檓 showing you guys

    • The R32 suffers from an instrument binnacle that is uncomfortably close to the design of a VN Commodore's. But beyond that, the layout of the rest of everything, and the materials (ie the vinyl coverings on dash, armrest, etc) are acceptable, and the patterns on the fabrics are not as blergh as those in the R33. And R33 seats are....quite unattractive. I know it's only small details there, but I reckon the R33 got worse than the 32. But the big blergh is the overall shape of the dash on the R33. It's just has that whole Maxima/Pulsar sort of look to it. Nothing special at all. Generic Nissan sedan. Whereas, at least the R32 dash/binnacle was different. Less a wide expanse of boringly curved plastic. More a "cockpit" sort of look, even if nowhere near to the degree that the A90 Supras got. R34 seats look good on their own, until you realise that they are indistinguishable from the shape and fabric on 70 other Japanese cars. And the foam bolsters on them suffer even worse than the earlier cars. Other than that I don't really have an opinion the rest of the R34 interior. I took the bits of the R34 I wanted (brakes and engine) and added them to the best external appearance Skyline in the modern era (the 32). So nyerr!
    • Can I be your first customer? I would like hard lines done for the fuel system, 8AN up and 8AN back and the underside wire wheeled and coated (brush or sprayed) with that black tar shit.
    • Speak for yourself, I love the R33 interior. 32 is blergh. I like the 34 interior too. Then you start getting much newer in most cars and they all turn back to blergh. 馃槢
    • 500-600hp into a RB is already 'sinking endless amounts of money' into an engine. Especially a 30 year old engine. Unfortunately this is the RB Game. Considering stock power (or at least stock components) will do ~360whp on 98 by simply turning up the boost on the stock gear on a RB26, that would be where I'd say the cutoff point for "sinking endless amounts of money into the engine" Cause to even do this reliably you'd probably need to replace all the bits anyway cause they're old, starting your sinking journey anyway. I reckon the least painful way is rebuilding the engine to make 50hp over stock lol. The 'plan your ownership around a rebuild' was a common saying 15 years ago.
