@GTSBoy I’ll be honest with you I’m not sure at all.. your right I should probably look into it.. just asking in general because I’m intrested in throwing in a turbo and like I said not looking for god knows how much power just more then I have now an slowly build up with the turbo

Iv been looking around found one on market place he reckons it came off a Jeep commander an reckons it’ll be good for a r31 but I’m not sure which is why I’m showing you guys

You do not want that turbo. It appears to be all sorts of silly. Funky exhaust inlet flange, possibly crazily small compressor.

What you want is a VL Turbo type turbo. Something with a T3 inlet, sensibly arranged to sit on a stock VL turbo manifold with the inlets and outlets facing in the right directions. An RB25 or VG30 turbo would also be appropriate.

Thank you man I really do appreciate thats basically what I was trying to ask like how you said “rb25” “vg30” like I knew for a vl motor, because Rb30 because Iv changed the motor it’s a Holden  Rb30 Not a Nissan

if you would pick which one will be the best for my car which one would you pick?
because I do want the car to last me you know iv spent some money on it already an willing to spend abit more but I don’t want to look after it an keep it for a very long time I’m not looking to thrash into a pole

I wouldn't even bother asking that question until you work out whether you need to spend another $5k on engineering before you'd even be allowed to do it.

I'm in SA. We have it much better than the Nazi state that you live in. But even here it is strictly illegal to just throw a turbo onto a car. You must get approval from Regency (our Vicroads) before you start, and they will demand engineering where it is needed, and I'm pretty sure that turboing a vehicle that never had a turbo variant will require engineering.

@GTSBoy okay sweet as I’ll do some more research like I said before I really do appreciate you taking the time to help me out.. I’ll look into it more I’ll do more research into VicRoads and what not and speak to my mechanic

if there’s any other tips or advice you can give me I would appreciate it thanks heaps my bro

Read Kinkstah's thread re: engineering a car to give you some idea. I think its a headache and not worth spending that cash on your 31. I'd save the pennies if you're that keen and buy a 33 and work on that. Or save for a deposit on a house and just enjoy your car the way it is until you get more experienced on the roads. My 2c.

I’ll see if I can have a look at the build tho

another question I have is does anyone know any good alarm systems and central locking that’s compatible with the r31? Not looking to spend heaps but I don’t want to make it harder (knock on wood) for the car to get stolen

Any alarm at all. Anything with a snake name. Anything from Jaycar. Anything from almost anywhere so long as it isn't the cheapest, nastiest 3rd shift China-Bay spec.

It's not like car alarm technology has actually moved along in any meaningful way in the last 20 years. Remote start and pagers and all that stuff are just fairy floss window dressing. The alarm needs to have black wires, sufficient relay interlocking to properly immobilise the vehicle and the right combination of sensors for your purposes. A tilt switch for example, to help with tow truck style thieves.

And a 120+dB siren, in the cabin.

@GTSBoy

yeah I was looking on eBay but I don’t really trust them tbh... was calling up Autobarn and Supercheap repco an what not but they couldn’t really recommend one I’ll try give them another call tomorrow

iv never heard of jay car but I’ll give them a call first thing tomorrow to have a look an I’ll tell them what you said with the immobiliser an what not, I definitely want a loud siren just in case they do try steal it so I can hear it... I’m gonna throw in a kill switch as well might be going overboard but I love this car an I’m not gonna let anyone take it if I can help it

Found a place to fit an alarm system I’ll be getting it done next week

another question my cluster the original one I had the fuel played up an odometer didn’t work

bought a new one and everything works Except the fuel gauge and Oil plays up which is shit iv heard that you can get these things called odometer COG SPEEDO GEAR SUITS for Holden commies just wondering if there’s any way I can fix the fuel gauge and the oil without having to buy another cluster an hope for the best cheers
