Help: R32 to R34 brembo bolt hole enlargement options

Hi folks,

Putting on a set of f50s with an adapter for the front.  I need to enlarge or reduce the holes depending on what way I go.

 

What is the best way to do this and ensure strength as car will be driven hard at track days etc. 

- drill out mount hole to 14mm

- Helicoil or insert in adapter 

- some special bolts I have heard about. Not sure what they are or where I would get them but a couple of ppl mentioned these in old threads I read.

Or, option C. Get or make some replacements for the inserts with the threads you need. That's what I did when I put R34 calipers on R32.

But if you want the quick, easy and perfectly fine option, just bang a drill through the mount hole. if you even need to go back, you can just sleeve it with a short piece of 14mm OD 1mm wall tube.

Thanks for the reply, can look into sleeve as an option. Any thought on what sort of sleeve and where I could get one? 

Also, how strong will the drill need to be to get through the spindle?

No, you don't need the sleeve for what you want to do. You only need the sleeve if you drill out the hole, and want to "undo" that mod later.

And, I very clearly described what to make the sleeve out of in my previous post.

Go to Sydney/total tools, get a high quality cobalt drill bit and use a low speed on the drill.
