Duncan
350/370z has been 50-60k, why would marketing let the new one be 20-30% more? There is some danger that they will try to gouge by creeping up under the Supra's price point (ie, make it >$80k) to make it look like good value by comparison, even if they could reasonably sell them in the 70s. I was hoping Z35 would be around that price. Z33 sold nicely and I see a handful of black Z34s around my area still, so means people bought it. I've seen one A90 Supra as well, so in a sea of 'premium' CUVs they can sell, very low amounts. joshuaho96
Nissan already has the 6 speed, VR30DDTT, FM platform. Personally I think they would be nuts to ask more than 70k AUD. They can afford to undercut the Supra in price a little. Shoota_77
Here's a polarising question.... If you had a R32 or R33 GTR that you could sell for exactly the same money as the new Z ended up being, would you sell it and buy the Z? Give up a real cult status car for maybe a future cult status car. Give up the old school 90s interior for a super modern full digital dash. Give up tricky cold starts for hit the start button and go? I could go on! What's your thoughts? There will never be the hype for the new Z like the cult status of the 80-90's early 2000 Japanese hi-po Nissans. Plus you would be able to park the Z in the city and return 4 hours later and it would still be there, unlike a R32-33-34 GTR. The Z is a nice modern sports coupe which I would love as a daily, the Skyline GTR's are next level, but, require a lot of sacrifice. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/481163-what-does-everyone-think-of-the-new-z/page/2/#findComment-7940316 Share on other sites

Give up tricky cold starts for hit the start button and go? I could go on! What's your thoughts? Depending on the condition of the GTR...... If needing alot of maintenance (small rust blemishes, all bushes, brakes, faded/damaged interior pieces) YES. I looked at a r32 GTR before I brought my 370z and for the money the 370z is alot better car and definitely outperforms a r32 so the new 400Z would be the go but probably a series 2 so all the little issues are fixed and plenty of aftermarket support by then BUT if the GTR was in very good condition and only needing paint touch ups and small stuff, keep GTR as a good ecu fixes all the cold start/drivability issues and still a cool "old" car. Also depends what you are using the car for daily driver or weekend fun car. All the modern stuff like cruise control, satnav, info hub, interior quality, ride quality is a big thing for me these days and the new stuff is great in most situations I have put mine in so far and the performance is leaps ahead of 1980s tech. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/481163-what-does-everyone-think-of-the-new-z/page/2/#findComment-7940317 Share on other sites
Shoota_77
Only second hand information but apparently they're starting from $38000USD so allowing for conversion plus whacking on a bit of Australia tax it could well be at or just over $60K plus on roads. Seems fair? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/481163-what-does-everyone-think-of-the-new-z/page/2/#findComment-7940321 Share on other sites

GTSBoy
Yes, which is good, but not great, given the Dodge design is, what? 10 years old? I wouldn't get it as a weekend car like an R33 GTR. RedEmblem
It's growing on me. At first I thought it was absolutely horrible. The colour, mags and white walls don't help. But, I've seen a few more images now and it looks okay. At first I thought the front bumper just had a large rectangle hole, but I've seen that it has some more details now. I think it looks fine. In a decent colour and without wanky wheels/mags it'll look fine. Looking forward to buying one if the price is reasonable (though I doubt it, they'll probably be $100k). Leroy Peterson
I love everything about the exterior and interior EXCEPT for the front bar and headlights. and I'm less hopeful a bodykit can fix it. I'm a negative ninny, but the VR twin turbo is too much of a pain in the ass. Needs big real estate and nissan never have enough engine bay room. Just look at the Q50 red sport: 2x charge coolers, engine oil cooler, radiator, gearbox cooler. so much space just reserved for battery and those silly wall things, just to not have 3-way strut bars. I don't know how new euro's do it, but this is too shitty for me. My single turbo VQ is bad enough. As much as this car is appealing on paper, it's gonna be too heavy & complex for me. Nissan needs a 86 competitor IMO. The 86 competitor is never coming, the 510 concept was it. They could probably do a "Silvia" by doing a sort of Z 2+2 with a 2L turbo I4. doggido
Looks typical Z Car in the side profile but I think the front and near should of kept and updated the Z Car styling concerning the lights.
