someonestolecc
I think a first car for everyone should be a manual gemini. (i really do!) I have no idea how much non turbz go for. checkout all the places that sell. tradingpost, carsales, carpoint, directimported.com.au prestigemotorsport.com.au etc Also I wouldn't bother with a non-turbz skyline especially a r33 but that's just me (i've never been in one and i dont like r33) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/48119-newb/#findComment-969531 Share on other sites
Mr_G
Hmmmm, i reckon go AE86 hehe Would be a nice non-turbo first car. You probably want to shy away from the line as your first car, because if you put a dent on it, you will pull your hair out!!! Get a basher for your first car to learn, then whilst you drive it, save for the turbo line... superspit
Hey hows it goin, sorry to annoy ya's with newb questions and everythin but just wonderin what my chances are of gettin a skyline for 12-14k as my first car, preferably lookin for a non turbs ( was gunna get a ca18det 180) but my old man aint too keen on that, so kinda leavin ns.com 'coz i wont be gettin a 180 anymore and thought of a nonturbs skyline. seen a couple of 33's gts' for around 13.5-15k.... but what you guyz reckon?Sparksy hi 'newb', are you a 'NEWBE' to the Skline scene or the drive scene???? the non-turbo R33 skline (when found in good nick), is still a bit of a let down. What I mean is, these cars are designed primarily for use with a wizzer. Most insurer's don't give a sh1t if it's NA or Turbo (the price is similarly high with some mobs, if they will insure you at all!!) They still 'go' at least as good as commondore/falcahore (probably better), but damn, unless you're totally in love with the look of the 33 (like I am), just get a little NA 91-93 Silvia (heaps around for $6500-$10000)with a 2.0 litre manual tranny. They're economical, handle/stop/driftwank well and are easy and great fun to do up....with the money you'll save on getting a 'half-baked 33' .(sorry N/A ers...I just know ur gonna roast me on this one!!) Heck newby..........u r gonna ding it in next to no time (and that's normal unfortuneatly), just learn to drive well and more importantly, learn about the other d1ckheads out there. Hey, But you got the cash..............and you did ask? Mark. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/48119-newb/#findComment-971217 Share on other sites

WazR32GTSt
what about a aus-delivered R31 GTS non-turbo (keep your dad happy) but from memory they are an rb30e but mildly tuned for some fun and look neat... otherwise i would say an R33GTS is good, but eventually you will itch for a turbo and its not cost-effective to convert an NA to a turbo... good luck! Sparksy Sorry man, I thought my whole point was about getting experience, in any sort of 'lower power' car, maybe just for a year(?).....you don't like early Silvia styling, I don't like the thought of inexperienced youngsters driving high powered machines....I'm with your old man on this one!! someonestolecc
Hehe superspit. That's it mate. If I had a turbz my first car the tree I wrote my first car into would have been my gravestone. AE86 would a great first car. Always can transplant a fat engine into it later and use it for drift/track work. And if I was getting a n/a sporty car I'd have to go the silvia or 180. my 2c.
