shootout mode vs normal.....?

just a quick question, whats the difference between shootout mode and normal mode when gettin your car dynoed?

that means shoot - out is deceptive and shouldnt b used as a measure coz it shows sugar coated performace....normal mode would be better as a standard to follow than shoot - out mode

from my understanding its a more 'fair' way of measuring power, adjusting to the atmospheric and other conditions of the location of the dyno, making figures done at 40deg at 1000metres above sea level directly comparable to those done at 0deg at sea level...?

maybe i'm wrong (again)
