All i can say is "CHOP CHOP CHOP"

Like to see wat the ricers boys do to this manga

Turbocharge it or drop in a 6A13 TT...like what other have always and been doing here with 4WD Diamantes...back well in 1995!!!

Don't know why they never brought it out earlier, personally I think it is a simple case of too little too late. The US Galant is proposed to replace the outgoing Diamante design which as you can see is almost 10 years old FFS!

MMC have primarily been a passenger car manufacturer with the exception of their participation in Rally Motorsports...(which is why they never needed to build any fancy flash interior, gizmo pumped Evo when it's going to get stripped...but everybody thought they needed to compete with all the other 4WD sports cars. It's a bloody race car but you all can't understand that). Passenger cars includes them as one of the few who build OEM Kei cars. Mazda, Nissan and Toyota under OEM license rebadge other makers Kei cars for their line up. Thus targetting the greater global market MMC cars have always been either FWD or 4WD, also why they suck in building a GT...they are small capacity engine makers (with the exception of the Pajero which is a truck engine anyway). Typically Japanese and at that technological era they failed to understand by fitting every gadget possible to the GTO, the Evo is packed with more punch the GTO will ever have minus all that techno crap.

But why on earth would they be as stupid as the yanks in giving Aust a FWD Diamante for all these years...they are the leading Japanese makers in 4WD system design, why didn't they build on that!

I'm also glad I don't have to see that ugly dam happy face Magna here.

Yeh the add is pretty stupid, it ends by saying something like 'Magna AWD feel the grip'

well for starters, how many people do rally, then how many people are going to do rally in an AWD magna? What exacly is their target market? Parents? Family people? well they definately arent going rallying. Not only that, the engine noise at the end of the commercial is an actuall turbo rally car not the awd magna.

99% of cars are driven on tarmac/sealed road, so that commercial doesnt make any sense, it shows how an AWD Magna will dominate RWD going 80km/h+ around a dirt road... When will this situation ever happen in real life driving?

ahhh that is what you know, but trendsetters dominate the market...which is why Toyota have been so smart all these years into building cars for different driver needs to weather trendsetters...also they have the capacity and funds to do so. Every euro maker is building a car with 4WD capability regardless if it ever sees the dirt track, it's what the buyer wants.

As I said if they were smart they would have done so ages ago, Holden and Ford have the Adventra and Territory respectively...they have been tested to be no major contenders offroad but hey who cares the people still buying them.

I'm really bewildered as to why Mitsubishi has all of a sudden lost all this market credibility???? I've always been under the impression that they are good cars.....(not being sarcastic!)

it's because they covered up a lot of defects and have had a history of doing so.

We have to remember they target the cars for people who don't know overly much about cars. We as enthusiasts know better. If they targeted to a group with more knowledge the not so informed people will have no idea and simply disregard the advert. (It's like the BT Super ads which are dead boring and make no sense to me)...

Mitsu is trying to feed off Subaru who paved the way with the whole

"4WD = more traction" concept.

That's the idea behind the commercial.

In the past Mistu have been awarded the "cardigan wearing, 40yo who only cares about getting to work and home" title. Boring and bland in other words. I think they realised how much a mistake it was to pull out of the sports/fast car market in Australia as they witnessed the WRX become such a cult car when it could've been the EVO in the WRX's place.

Isn't that the whole point of the add? To say they don't match the Magna and that the magna is a superior car on dirt? That what I got anyway. They say that on tar these cars are fine but of the road they suck and amen, hit the nail on the head. Hows that VL saying go? "VL's are fine if you dont want to turn corners"?

mitsubishi's image is suffering pretty badly here, but in the US they're king shit when it comes to sports and compact cars.

Yeah it's pretty bad here too, but I think they will bounce back in no time.

Many are speculating what will become of MMC, most articles and motoring journo are saying it will blow over after a while. Once they fix all the recalls they will get back into the game like every other Japanese maker who has suffered a hickup.

They have acquired a shitload of finance and support, they also getting Govt support and benefits to get back on it's feet like the others did.

even if MMC fails I'm sure its partner diamond comapnies (Mitsubishi Finance and Electicals etc) will bail it out. Or is MMC the black sheep that everyone's disowned, even though its the one thats mostly in the public eye?

IIRC from the latest news, Phoenix Corp now owns and runs MMC not DC anymore...they recently have pumped even more money into restructuring plan....correct me if I haven't been updated.

MHI and Mitsubishi Corp both have always been a major share holder, but your right prior to this Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Electric (us) were both approached to help inject funds into the rebuild...there was never any insecurity they were going to be sold off as a loss. But they were considering delisting from the Stock exchange which is a definite - No No, if they wanted to keep any credability to secure more funds.

Mitsubishi Corp, Mitsubishi Rayon, Asahi Glass, Kirin Brewery/Beverages and Mitsubishi Chemical all posted hugh profits last financial year...there is alot of sister companies to seek finance from.

I dont understand why some guys are upset at the add saying nobody will drive it on the dirt anyway.

How many 4wd ads do you see with them climbing mountains, climbing Mars, showing off the angle they can climb etc etc. And then they end up being driven by everday Mums and dads to drop the kids at school and do the shopping with fuel economy 0f 20l/100kms and above. ( last time i checked Nissan would not disclose the patrols fuel economy, must be way high. 4wds and commercial vehicles are exempt form having to tell you there fuel economy.)

I would love to know out of ten, how many 4wds that are sold actually hit the dirt.

very few, many people i know who own 4WD's buy them for the safety aspect and the high driving position... they were born in the city and will die there too

Oh the hilarity... safety? Pff. 4WDs are notorious for poor safety :)

Edit: yes yes, its improving, but its still worse than most cars.

lol... consider yourself in a beetle and me in my nissan patrol, if we were in a head on colision at low speed what would happen?? i think the 4WD would come out on top literally

If it didn't tip over thanks to its higher centre of gravity....
