What?

The Stillen Gen 3 intakes came with a guard that goes infront of the two air filter pods. But I left it out thinking it would restrict the amount of air going into it. Since it's out I'm just wondering if it would hydrolock the engine if I drive the car during the rain? or could I just use those wraps that K&N supplies that goes over the air filter pods?

Is it hanging out in the breeze? If so, why?

And no, you could not hydrolock your engine by getting the filter wet unless you drove it through a swamp. But a wet filter won't flow air.

nope its inside the front bumper behind the grill, but thanks :) !

If you drive through puddles alot put it on.

or keep it in the car and if your ever really worried put it on before you smash through those puddles :)

Unless you drive through a river I cannot see you "hydrolocking"

My OTR intake with a K&N on the old LS1 takes a load of water every time it rains

I've seen alot of Harley's with pods exposed to the elements that use these "rain socks", they are designed so if you leave it out in the rain the pod doesn't act as a funnel.

These rain socks were never around years ago, but people need to make money, and good marketing can sell ice to Eskimos

A pod under the bonnet or inside a guard or bumper negates this

    • A thing I wasn’t happy with with enthusiast was during the initial phone call they told me they’d insure it for 130k but needed photos.   I then sent them photos and they told me $80k as there were other cars either similar modifications available for around that price, I told them to send me the links to said cars so that I can buy them. i then sent the modification list with prices of the parts (no labor) and the price then came to 115k, which is still shy of the 130 that was agreed in the initial phone call

    • I agree that delayed payment probably isn't the most suitable solution. It seems a solid complete transaction would be best. As I wouldn't be using this sale as a line of credit that would typically earn interest, we can probably arrange a much cleaner single transaction deal. I can do $92.52 today. Would you prefer EFT, or Cash on Pickup?  😛
    • Oh man what a deal.... Funny enough (well not really) I sold a car to some old dude (buying for his Daughter) on a Saturday, He asked if she could take the car now and pay me the money on Monday as the bank wasn't open. Needless to say I told them to come back with the cash or get f**ked! Luckily the money seemed to magically appear in his pocket a few minutes later, so it all ended well (for me).
