I was thinking in terms of making sure a copied cam would work with the original HKS controls. But otherwise, yes.

Around 500 usd plus handling for the same thing the hks do.

That's a fixed 16 degree advance, even VCAM Step 1 allows for variable 30 degree cam advance. If it didn't make a big difference Nissan wouldn't have implemented continuous VVT in the VR and VQ engines.

I'm a little late to this thread but thought it still worth commenting. I have done this to my own car. It started as a Step 1 and I sent the cam off to Kelford to be ground into a 272/9.2 cam. I then removed the limiter in the cam gear. Kelford and I did initially plan to use a standard cam and cut it to work with the VCAM but it did not work out. The cores they use have a relief for access to the head bolt. This is exactly where the reluctor pickups are.

Let me know if you have any questions on the process. Glad to help.

Did they have to go to a smaller base circle for this? I imagine they would have to in order to effectively add meat to the lobe to get a longer duration.

Hey OST, Thanks for clearing up and answering my question. I'm late to see this post, but glad it is possible
