ok guyz..i got a problem..a serious problem...

i was wondering if u guyz can help me?

ok i bought my GTR on tuesday ;)

i had to jump start it cuz it hasnt been driven for 2 weeks.

once i jumpstarted it ,i was on my way home.

around liverpool about 30mins into my journey home....

the car just shut it self off in the middle of the road..

making my GTR look like a POS :D

anyway...i manged to push it off to the side of the road and bought new batteries..and replcaed it on the road...the car fired up after the replacement battery...i gave it a bit of rev..

it'll rev till 5K and then stop..once i drop the revs the car will shut it self again...

only this time i can start the car over and over again.

i managed to get it through the busy sydney traffic and to my mechaics place..

today after 2 days i've bought it...the AFM's once though were at fault were not at fault nor the ECU

now i am really running out of ideas...

i was wondering if any1 could help me..

currently the car is running super rich blowing balck smoke like a chimney

and refuses to rev past 3g the car it self has done less than 500 KM's since brought in.

danny i think its the throttle body being dirty...

u got new batteries and also got spart plugs replaced

which means the throttle body is dirty..

u can clean the trottle urself.... only need a tooth brush and some trottle body cleaner

and it shouldnt do it again... if it does then i dont hab a clue

unless u got the wrong batteries

First things first your car only has one battery. There is no way that it will be your throttle bodies (yes you have 6) the rb26 has a multi throttle body setup to enhance throttle response. Throttle bodies being dirty wouldn't be an issue. In extreme cases they mite hamper performance if the airflow is being restricted, but in no way could they cut the engine completely. The chance of it being an o2 sensor problem is also slim as they only trim the mixture. id more inclined to check for air leaks after the afm's in all the intake plumbing that would make it run rich but i doubt it would completely cut out. It depends on how much has been modified on the car too. Like sumone said it could be the ECU especially if its an aftermarket unit playing up. Best thing to do is take it to a fuel system expert.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
