After some looking around I thought I share my findings with regard to being able to source a cruise control unit for my 2008 v36 370 GT.

There seems to be three option:

1. Purchase an aftermarket unit that looks just like Nissan factory with a genuine Nissan kit for connection. This is a fairly involved installation and so you need to contact and auto electrician, preferably one with experience in installing cruise control units, to install it. Autostrada in Brisbane is one possibility, with a cost of $250 or maybe a little more if it takes longer than usual. See a picture of this facia below.

Auto strata in Brisbane is one possibility. This is the most expensive approach with the unit costing over $800 and then there will be an installation fee of something above $250.

2. Purchase an aftermarket kit with a D shaped controller which goes on the steering wheel to the right of the horn boss, either from pro serve (about $650), or from autostrada (About $750) and arrange for installation as per the first option. Proserve say The installation of the unit is fairly straightforward plug and play, So you may be able to install it yourself if you are handy. This is the cheapest option if you can do it yourself at about $650 all up. Be a picture of this unit below.

3. Arrange for an independent shop to both source and fit a unit, which will likely be the same as the Proserve unit. I have been quoted $900 for this approach.

Hi John

Ive done this process through auto strada. Only took about 2 hours.
If you buy your own stock v36/g37 Steering wheel buttons and put them on (easy DIY, i picked one fascia up for $100 Shipped) Autostrada charge $500 for supply and installation of the actual unit and make it work with the stock buttons.

If youre after one that looks OEM, its definitely worth it.
