Die$eL
hi, I've sold my R33 and got myself a 1981 Datsun 280ZX (S130) Managed to find a RB25DET NEO along with a Fatboy gearbox. The plan is to have it relatively powerful but to keep the look period correct as far as possibe. I see CX Racing in the states offers an engine/box mounting kit for the conversion. the problem is that I'm in South Africa and shipping + duties from there to here is crazy. Looking for some advice on any place in Australia which may sell a similar kit. Any suggestions? V8skylineMAN
Engine will bolt right in, gearbox crossmember can be modded to suit, and custom tailshaft is needed. It's a fairly simple conversion. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/482432-fitting-a-rb25det-neo-into-a-280zx/#findComment-7952021 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Yeah, why use a kit. Just make mounts. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/482432-fitting-a-rb25det-neo-into-a-280zx/#findComment-7952023 Share on other sites

I've read that the stock RB mounts work (they didnt) Read that the RB bridge mounts with the L28 rubbers work (didnt) R31 mounts work (dont have a set to try) R32 mounts work (dont have a set to try) Just buy the CX racing kit (shipping from USA to South Africa is an issue) Just by the Mckinnon kit (shipping from USA to South Africa is an issue) Just make mounts (busy trying that at the moment, seems costs will work out to the same as getting the kit) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/482432-fitting-a-rb25det-neo-into-a-280zx/#findComment-7952025 Share on other sites
Die$eL
it was a job of note but we made the mounts ourselves. Used the L28 rubber mounts to the chassis and fabricated bridge mounts to the motor. For the box we used the L28 cross member and fabricated mounts which run from that to where the original mounts fitted to the tunnel. Had to cut some metal off there to make the surface flat. I will post pics once the car is back. Its off to have the bumper valence and ducktail made from fibreglass.
