Rpm gauge doesn't work

Hey guys! My rpm gauge hasn't worked for ages and I finally took it into my own hands to fix it. I resoldered all the things I needed to do. Yet now my tailights and cluster lights are permanently on..

What sort of diagnostics have you performed?

i have fixed the taillight permantly on by flicking the switch rapidly seemed to fix it, but the rpm gauge still is screwed. tried pulling it apart and resoulding the connections but it has all but failed me

Yes, but what sort of diagnostics have you done? Randomly flicking switches and soldering joints is not diagnostics. Have you looked at he wiring diagram and probed with multimeter (based on the understanding of the wiring diagram) at all?

Consider the fact that the RPM gauge itself may be working just fine. It has to get it's signal from somewhere else. This is where the above post from GTSBoy starts to provide better context.

You should probably verify that the gauge cluster is receiving the RPM signal instead of blindly guessing. Electrical circuits aren't magic even if it seems like it sometimes.
