I’m very happy with my recent purchase of the Fuga but resisting the conversion to English of the navigation system. I’ve used Google translator to get around the system to date but I must have pressed something, now wondering if any Fuga owners (mine is 2011) know how to get out of this ‘dual’ or ‘panel’ screen mode. It’s driving me crazy

You've pressed the status button, which on the converted system is the left button on the lower row. It switches between distance to empty like you've got, distance/time to arrival if you have nav on and something else I can't remember.

I'd recommend the english conversion. I had my Cima on japanese only for the 5 years I ran it but the Fuga is more complex. I don't use the satnav itself of course, just a phone app

Is there any way to leave the status menu and go back to just the CD and music box menus ? I hit status a few times but never get to the standard menu the way it was… not sure if we can have a chat somehow? If I toggle with the source button on steering wheel I can’t get rid of it and can’t find anything in the configuration . Google translate is a bit crude but it’s worked for me so far, just not for this .

Edit-will post a few more menu pics to hopefully assist others

I've never tried to turn off the status because I find the DTE display helpful, however on the drive today I was able to remove it by pressing the nav's Map button (bottom row, second from right) then a source button on the radio (Aux). I'm sure there are other ways and it depends what you DO want to see

👍

I've got the conversion the Estonian guys on ebay, I guess there are other ways to contact them but all roads probably lead to the same people. I was a bit dubious about sending that much but they were quick and it works perfectly, the only thing I'm not impressed with is the english buttons they supply aren't a great match colourwise to the stock ones

I did the install based on the US MY51 Q70 2013 manual, close enough to work out how to pull the console apart without breaking anything and the unit is direct plug in. Some functions are lost like the passenger parking camera and the japanese lady yelling to tell you how to parallel park.

Frankly, the frustration for us with the jp menus was since Kel and I share the car, memorising the path to connect audio and then phone every time we change drivers was a pain.

I've got a thread on my fuga here:

  • Thanks 1

I think I’ve seen those Estonian guys “Xanavi”, they seem like the only ones in the world these days that do the full convert. The NZ guys “Betamorphis Ltd “ can change just the language, but not the Navi maps and radio band etc so still thinking about what path to take. I get that issue with another sharing Bluetooth and trying to memorise menus as it’s already a nightmare for me but I am liking the car so far. Might be easier to learn Japanese !
My only concern is Losing that front passenger mirror camera as you said as it’s been convenient for me so far

    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
    • Can try Maxima. Or random Infiniti models from the same era. Good luck with your hunt, let us know what you find!
