I just upgraded from A 350GT Premium to a 370GT SP. Both have a BOSE sound system, on which I use direct AUX inputs to pump my Android phone out (with MAJOR sound mods, see Viper); NB the 350 nneedded a special cable, 370 has an input point in the centre console/armrest. Now, The sound coming out of my 350GT was incredible. The sound from the 370GT is nowhere near as good. Were there different levels of BOSE audio in the 370GT? Are there any details about either system? such as watts frequency range or ... etc... And yes I know that BOSE are NOT big on publishing numbers, they simply sell on the basis of"it sounds good)

Basically, I would of expected the 370GT to be as good or even better, but it is not. My other possibility is that one of the speakers or amps are dead. Specifically the Sub. The sound system is VERY important to me. I use the AUX, so its the sound not the features.

  • Duncan changed the title to My 350GT BOSE sound System sounds better than my 370GT BOSE sound system. Whaaaaat?

I notice the same from going to 350gt to the 370gt Bose.

Don't know why

and then in the Q60 the sound is better

So chances are it isn't an issue with my car only, but possibly an issue with the V36 itself. I thought maybe a sub and a tweeter had died. Its the low range and the highs that are lacking compared to the 350GT. And we will never know why, as BOSE don't publish their specifications.

You know what BOSE stands for don't you?

Buy Other Sound Equipment.

Inconsistent performance is part of the brand.

I am faaaaar from being a fan of BOSE as a brand. The fact they dont publish/test specs annoys me. However, the stereo in my 350GT was brilliant.I pumped into it through Android, using Viper. I guess I am going to need to consider adding to the stereo system. I went for a premium 370GT in a big part because of the stereo, incorrectly thinking it would of been as good as in the 350GT.

    • I stick with Shannons through inertia and because they had to accept some things about insuring my car that they didn't really want to, but had to when their parent absorbed my previous insurer and forced me into their portfolio. I might struggle to convince anyone else to take that on for the moment.
    • There's no good RB25s lying around either. A blown RB20 is a good time to build it to take 35psi and give it a twin-charge using a nice screw compressor and a big fat turbo. Blower makes it act like a 3L and turbo makes that act like a 6L.
    • Reckon it'll be OK after 5 years? Running RB20s aren't $1k/free to good home like they used to be! Some might say a blown RB20 is a good time to move onto RB25 though...
    • You may well find that there is a big air bubble in there and plenty more coolant will be swallowed once it starts. So keep the bottle handy. If you can roll it back and forth, you can make the pistons go up and down a bit by putting it in 3rd or 4th and giving it a shove.
