Hey all,

I'm getting ready to put my RB25 into my car and when I went to pull the oil pan just to inspect its condition and I found the previous person had used that a lot of that annoying red RTV. There was RTV stuck onto the pickup tube strainer as well! Should I be concerned? I didn't see any bad signs of RTV anywhere else in the engine when disassembling and replacing parts (i.e. Timing belt kit, Valve covers, water pump, Intake manifold etc.) but one thing I didn't replace was the oil pump as it looked not as used. I removed the oil pickup tube and cleaned it out really well as well as any excess RTV I found around the mating surface of the oil pan, all seems well around the crank and con rods also.

The impatient side of me wants to just put the engine in and start the car but I want to do things the right way when it comes to my build; so I'm asking for experienced advice on what I should do in this situation; any help is appreciated

Given that you've looked for other excess and have the sump off, I would put it back on without excessive sealant and never think about it again

Thanks for the response, I was thinking the same way but just wanted some reassurance lol

Cheers
