Old man 32 GTR
Will be upgrading the brakes on my GTR when it goes back together, got my heart set on the R35 brake conversion. what setups have people used and what were the results, I could go Alcons which are significantly cheaper. alcons are a 355mm rotor, using the CAR89 callipers and R35 are a 390mm rotor. Im assuming the answer is both are more then I’ll need on the street 😂 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/483515-brakes/ Share on other sites
Duncan
umm, yep. So if you are buying for looks choose whatever you like the look of What size wheels do you run, the R35s @390mm would be very tight under 18s Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/483515-brakes/#findComment-7962828 Share on other sites
alexj
I have old school-ish AP Racing CP5555 on mine, looks a bit period and they do the job on track, but not a great road car option imo. On the early 35 brakes are 380mm which is a better option, still tight on 18", needs te37 or similar with lots of clearance. So those would the ones to go for i reckon. I bet there is some kind of man maths i can come up with that the r35 would be better for the road that the Alcons; service parts, brake pad choices, road style dust boots etc. But mainly, massive gold brakes ftw. Predator1
I bought the full brakes direct kit. I had issues, however the brakes themselves are pretty damn good once everything was sorted.
