It looks suspiciously like what they do cars that have been written off

They strip everything, then cut the shell

Does it have tags?

What does your local rego joint say about it?

Is it even able to be registered again?

I went and check through everything at the department of transport and it all comes back clean. The other shell I have had been written off. And yes I will weld the roof at some point. image.thumb.png.905bdedf6098028413669a2f5396e72b.png

I dont really care about if it cost more than a good condition one. I have everything planned out with costs and everything. Plus I get to make it how I want it, not how someone else likes it.

I reckon you have at least 1000 things to buy for at least $ 50 each and let's say 10 things at 500 each. That's being very wishful and imagining you can do all the labour yourself.

How does that match up against your cost estimate?

Sounds rational.

What's your current calculations and plans for the build?

Would cost me around 30 grand all up (Maybe a bit more).

Plans are:

Performance:

Built RB25 or Rb26 (Still deciding)

HKS Turbo

HKS Exhaust

Rays Wheels

6 Speed Manual Box

Exterior:

Top Secret Body Kit (Probably a replica as it is impossible to get original)

GTR Front End (Hood, Bumpers, Wings ect.)

Interior:

Standard apart from racing seats and Sparco Wheel.

I think that if it was that expensive I would just buy a donor car. And I have rebuilt a subaru wrx from the ground up before so nothing I have not done before.

Man getting PTSD seeing that R33 in pieces, reminds me of my shit box.

I hope to see a twin scroll single turbo, with twin gates, and a Samsonas.

Yeah maybe

Ok. I will be more realistic then.

RB25 DET With Mods - 10k

Interior - 1k

Body kit - 2k

Paint - 4k

6 Speed Manual - 3k

Other bits - 6k

The parts alone, from a very quick guestimation will be a huge bill, the car is a shell, and unless you are building a stripped out race car without a RB enfine, dash, interior, AC, window glass and powersteering the car will end up costing current GTR money, or more, and you end up only having a tacked together GTST

Me, I would sell the panels and csll it quits

Actually, that is exactly what the previous owner did, after stripping all the good bits, till all that was left was a chopped up shell

Step back and have a good think before you drop a house deposit on it

I'm with these guys.

There is no merit in this plan. You will go broke, and you will go broke repeatedly trying to achieve anything with this car.

The costs that you think are realistic, like $1k for an interior, are just laughable. You cannot even find most of that stuff these days, let alone all of it in one hit. Anyone who has all of it in one hit only has it because they have it in a car that is too far gone to be saleable as a car. ie, it's all f**ked. And they will still want to sell the interior bits for >>$50 each, totalling $5k. And they will be all scratched up, faded, broken and f**ked. Did I mention the f**ked part?

Alright guys you really have no hope in me but I do agree with what your saying. I will just build up the body (All panels ect.) and Build up subframes. Then I will go from there (Either selling or continuing the build)

Man, the time to build up a skyline from a shell was 5-8 years ago when the parts where plentiful and cheap. Anyone selling anything these days thinks it's made from gold.

5 years ago I bought a complete good condition R33 interior and boot trims minus front door cards for $50. Good luck even trying to find that stuff now.

Anyway, please post updates and can we get an ETA of when we will see a skid vid. Thanks.

    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
    • Ye, in terms of bolting up the "Conversion" from a GT to a GTT is effectively "Use GTT parts for everything" Except the subframe itself, because you won't want a HICAS/4WS subframe. Remember your ABS system will be different too, thanks to GT being the S15 3 sensor system, instead of the R34 4 sensor system for wheel speed. I do not know how people get this to work given R34 diffs do not have a provision for an ABS sensor (they are on the tone wheels of the axles). I assume***** people use S15 gear/R34NA forever when they realize this - Or they convert it to a rear diff/axles that are R33 style which I presume has the singular speed sensor on the diff itself, but then you have to wire it all in and...and... and...
    • Foreshadowing was never so easy.
    • The ones in brackets are the first stages of tightening. I usually aim for the middle of the range. They give a range because it's actually not that critical to hit exactly the right bolt tension. Enough is enough, and too much is too much, and the range given is inside that range. Half of the bolts in the suspension are problematic for putting a torque wrench on anyway, so just get done up to mechanic tight  and spanner checked a week later.
