Crank washer bent

Hey guys

Was recently replacing the water pump and timing belt.

Came across one of the washers for the timing gear and balancer were bent. Just wondering how that would of happened

Hard to believe that it was like that when it was on the crank. Easier to believe it was f**ked up as it came off.

Is the fracture surface clean?

It’s all been cleaned up now. Was just wondering how that washer would become bent and indented with the timing gear.

I had a similar thing happen once. Suspect it was the main pulley cranked up a bit tight for me as it took us nearly 1/2 day to just crack the pulley bolt open.

True. Yeah we found that the crank bolt was only finger tight so now we are just going over everything.

Wait what? Were you driving around with the main crank pulley bolt loose!?!?

Yeah didn’t know until we pulled the car off the road to a coolant leak and trigger issues. Don’t know how long it was loose for
