Hi All,

After any suggestions or advice on how to proceed here, whether it be off the shelf parts or custom.

Been looking at different exhaust options. Definitely don't want one of those off the shelf cat back systems as still be using stock turbo outlet and down pipe.

In addition to that, the bell mouth dump pipes concern me in regard to the internal welding and wastegate valve/flap fouling on each other.

I read a thread in here somewhere the other night about that occurring.

So moving forward I plan to go the tomei expreme turbo outlet pipe which has the 76.3mm / 3inch outlet.

However i'm finding it hard to locate a down pipe that goes to the cat which is the same diameter all the way through.

The down pipes I found seem to all be 60mm/2.3inch (stock size) from the turbo outlet and step up to the bigger diameter at the cat end even quoting 80mm.  ie. jjr, blitz, apexi.

I just want to match everything to the same diameter.

Beyond that from the cat to the muffler is pretty easy to get sorted at an exhaust shop.

I plan to finish of with a magnaflow 3inch inlet, dual 3inch outlet and maintain stockish look.

So.....what turbo are you bolting it onto? Stock? Then there will be no cause for concern. The problem reported by zoomzoom is only on a significantly larger turbo with a much bigger wastegate flap. The chances of you finding yourself in this position are slim. 90+% of all turbo upgrade options you might pursue will require a different dump pipe anyway. Furthermore, should you find yourself in that position, it is not exactly rocket science to do mods to a dump pipe. Any half decent workshop would be able to cut and shut as required.

Thanks for elaborating.

It's the stock turbo, for the future I was eyeing off the hypergear high flow service.

SS2 profile for the rb25neo advises 'Price includes an a larger 38mm billet internal waste gate fitted'.

That's where my concern comes from.

    • I wouldn't be using the seats a lot since it's on Historic rego and will not be driven a lot, however I also don't want to fork out 3k for something that won't last. Havent looked at BRZ seats, aiming for something of the same era I did speak to him on the phone once, and I do see your point haha. How many kms do you think you drove before they started wearing out? Have you got a link to the ones you purchased?   Thanks for the replies fellas.
    • I bought my Bride reps from Crank Motorsport. He is, um, a trifle disorganised. I would have to look back at the e-mails to make sure I got it right, but I think he sent me normal fabric ones when I ordered the "Alcantara" ones. So he had to pay for shipping 3x and I'm sure that f**ked him off big time. And asking technical questions where nuanced English is required is a no go. It's simple English only. And....should I have bought the Alcantara ones? Well, as it turns out, they are great, feel great, etc, but the fabris wore through on the point of the waist bolster in <2 years. Must have caught a rip from a rivet on jeans or shorts, or something like that. So now I have to patch it somehow. A bit shit. My fault, ultimately, because it is Chinesium Faux Alcantara, not the real thing, and it turns ot that it has the tear resistance of a soggy tissue. But the seats and the reails are great. I probably should have gotten the R34 style ones, and now that they price is up in that ridiculous sort of number, I could have sold them for a profit!
    • Another recco is to just let it rest for a while and go back and reconnect later.
    • keep an extinguisher nearby? or even better, take it out of the car to charge?
    • 100% hear you. I won't defend them but I will defend my ability to work twice as hard to keep them running. 🤣
