Great news, 28,950 signatures have made......no difference at all.

Parliament refused to debate the petition despite have met the 20,000 minimum requirement because it was within a couple of month of Christmas and they didn't have time.

Instead, the minister for planning said (excerpt)

Maybe because the government will make more money with rates and stuff selling large acre blocks of land to the hobbie farmers, greenies and such

My daughter use to work for a joint doing wedding and receptions in Braidwood, it was on a huge property, she said they were looking at land around Goulburn a year or so ago

Maybe their guests don't like the sound of loud exhausts spoiling their receptions and such

Thinking about it, how far away is Pelican Sheep Station, I remember going there as a boy, I killed my first sheep with a knife there when I was about 10, they had a great thing going on 45 odd years ago

I remember the guy running the show lifting up the sheep on this gallows looking thing, as I was the youngest I bleed it, then he gutted it and the dogs run off with the guts as it fell to the ground, we then skinned and cooked it on an open fire, good times......

Eastern Creek is lucky it is surrounded by industrial land and a waste dump, for now.....

There's definitely no developer-led conspiracy here. The land wakie is on was actually sold by Pelican for the track in the first place, and younger members of the family still race there occasionally.

The biggest thing happening in that area is large scale solar farms which I can guarantee are causing more angst to the locals that wakie ever did. Perhaps if we can surround the track with 10klm of solar farms there will be no people close enough to hear it :)

Perhaps if people wanting to save Wakie also were will to reduce their cars noise levels it would really help Wakie be able to meet the noise levels.

Remember this, whilst Wakie may not have been keeping strict enough on the noise levels they were meant to enforce, and this really didn't help them, every single person who went "But it's a race track, I can be as loud as I want" and also didn't keep themselves in check with the regulations, they all contributed to this too.

In another location, I publicly asked how many of those who want to save wakie as they use it would be willing to make their cars quiet if it meant saving Wakie... Oddly... No responses of anyone happy to do so...

Basically, it's the exact same thing when someone says "EVs can't be good race cars, as they don't make noise!"

I agree. I find it weird that so many racing people and fans seem to prefer making noise over racing. If making noise is the priority, buy a nice set of headphones.

Noting Kel and I have raced electric cars, if I have to choose between racing quietly or making noise and not racing, I'll take quietly every time.

well, here's your chance.

If you think re-opening Wakefield is a vote changing reason, here you go:

Personally, I don't see that it outweighs their choice to keep money laundering alive through pokies, but that's the great thing about democracy, everyone gets one opinion and 1 vote :)

Well apparently, but it isn't obvious why.

Benalla have sold the track to the guys who own the other track near Marulan (Pheasant's Nest).

It is not clear why a different owner will have a different outcome, maybe it is something about the Land and Environment order being against the old owner, not the new one

That would be my guess - maybe the injunction(?) might be on the old owners, so having new owners will allow for a clean slate?

A few sessions of strippers, cocaine, and hookers will fix everything.

Isn't that how things move forward? Lol.

Or might be Wakefield Park has a few solar arrays setup around the track too 🥲

Google's says:

"Noise Control: Pheasant Wood operates under very strict guidelines in relation to noise vehicles emit as part of events held at Pheasant Wood. A noise restriction of 95dB measured at 30 metres from the edge of the competition area applies for this event."

How this effects straight piped and screamers? Meh, not really a war stopper IMO, just fit a muffler to comply

Compliance during scrutineering with the requirements will probably be key to getting onto the track, or black flagged

Fingers crossed, even though I don't get onto the track any more, I would always pop in for a look, watch a little track fun, walk the pits, and grab a snack if I could during my adventures cruising around the roads down south. Which I do alot.

I think I have probably seen every car club around doing happy laps in Wakie

Sydney to Goulburn, then past Wakie for a look, then Braidwood to Batemans Bay to Nowra and then back into to Sydney is a great scenic full day drive. And weirdly, I do miss the the cafe's 5hit food and coffee that was available at Wakie

tl;dr no Hondas and no screamer pipes.

Cool, my car is compliant - when do we race?

Wendsday nights at WSID 🤣

That's the only place my car goes fast #nocorners

It seems that mufflers and weird tail pipes that bolt on to the "normal" loud "street" exhaust is big in America where on some tracks in some states if you go over the 90 Db readings you are booted

At least they still get to happy lap, and the only people to see the contraption is the one behind.

Why? I think that person just successfully gamed the dB reader at the track.

At Wakefield that setup would be reversed to point to the RHS.

I think one of the big reasons the new owners might have more luck, is they have an actual track record of monitoring noise levels, and rectifying each one of them.

Well, that's what Pheasants Wood/MDTC was like when Gary owned it, I suspect the present owners (And new ones for Wakefield) will be acting the same way, as Pheasants Wood had some hard neighbours to please, but they managed to do it!

Also, interesting, a month or so ago, Labor vowed $1 mill if re-elected to get Wakefield reopened...
The Libs/Nationals just vowed $5 million for Wakefield to reopen if they get elected...

Side note: no matter which way you vote, those Many Blood Sucking Creatures (Poly-tick-sions) are just in it for themselves!

    • Interesting, I haven't read about the issue with oil getting into the speedo in the cluster before. I'll have to take more notice with mine. The speedo on my R32's when I've run factory diff and tyre size have never been accurate as far as I can remember. The non Type-M GTS-t did come with 15" 5 stud wheels and smaller brakes, but that's less than 5% of them.
    • Good to hear the condenser you picked up off my brother worked all good. Do you think there could be an issue with your AC compressor itself or the clutch on it then? I don't know a lot about them so I can't really help but keen to hear what it ends up being. Keep the build thread going man, it's nice to look back on over time.
    • This is a story of my life things, I learned eventually (thanks to someone calling me out) that my enthusiasm for discussing and sharing ideas that it came across as arrogance and I'm like... WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
    • Wives never seem to find things funny. Especially when they're trying to sleep, and you've found the new funniest thing ever. I've never seen someone be able to get try and be cranky with me, while they're holding back fits of laughter... 😛   Also, I tell mine it's payback anyway. She has BiPolar. So the household can get quite emotionally wild at times 😛
    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
