Well, I'm not sure on the status of my car either - I was home sick today and didn't get a chance to call the workshop. I seriously doubt if she will be ready. But will find out for sure tomorrow.

I was assured 4-5 days and it has been close to 5 weeks now. I'll appologise tomorrow when I know for sure...

What can you do.....

Hehehe, new brakes for me tomorrow too! at least they won't run out.

As for numbers, keep in mind that a certain % of people won't turn up on the day, I would think that they'll be able to find room for us all. Just get there early, around 8am-ish.

C'mon guys, no backing out now, remember this is your first chance to sign your soul over to SAU:D (and also your first chance to have pete cook you breakfast:p )

Hey Guys,

What duncan says is totally true. Never have I been to a track day where all have turned up.

NEW MEETING TIME...

8am as duncan suggested.

This should give us time to sign forms, eat breakfast that is cook by pete... and is he serves up a dogs breakfast then we still get time to race over to Maccas!!! and get the garages that we want all nice and close together.

Entry is through gate 7 (competitors entry) around the back of the circuit.

If you don't know me I'm own the gunmetal 33 with the rice rear wing.

I also changed my rear pads yesterday... took all of about 10 minutes! has anyone else changed their rear pads and noticed that while the outside pads are totally gone the inside ones are only about half used?

See you all tomorrow, my mobile number is 0414 940 938 if you have any troubles let me know.

Cheers,

Dan.

Trying to bring mine along but she keeps saying no... but if I don;t invite her all I get is this costs so much money and you never invite me... what say you wise old men... what do I do?

Pete, can you call me?

Cheers.

Dan, definately don't encourage her to come along. When they realise how much fun it is, they get hooked too. You'll end up having to buy a second skyline so that you can get a driver:uh-huh:

that not so bad duncan... she can have my car and I'll buy a r34... or an r32 and make it into a full unregoed race car!!! Have been thinking about an r31 for a bit... Might have to go halves with dad on a race car!

Will bring a case of beer if people want. Anything in particular?

Dave will expel us all if he sees booze in the pits. :uh-huh:

I can't make it out there until late morning. I'll be bringing the SAU forms so if you want to join up bring $50.00 or a cheque. Sorry but we can't accept Credit Cards. The stickers will be sent out soon.

We will try and have a group photo at some stage as well.

See you all there. :D

Just a general comment (may disappoint fatz, though), the track will stay dry with anything less than heavy rain as the cars go round. Bit of drizzle makes very little difference to grip.

On the bright side, if it does rain hard:

Decreased brake temps (for you prank)

Decreased tyre wear

And of course, a little easier to practise your doriffto:D

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
