R33 Gtst Auto

Hey everyone,

Ive been trying to research a bit but getting conflicted answers 😭

Im currently in the process of buying an r33 gtst auto from my dad whose had it for a little over 8 years. Currently its been in storage for 4 years, not started for 2.

He has modified it to push 388bhp and was wondering if its too much for the stock box?

Looking at a 19row oil cooler and a shift kit, possibly a hi stall. With these will it be able to hold?

With a cooler and shift kit it will likely hold that power for quite a few years.

But you have to realise that it is a nearly 30 year old car and so it could just go pop seemingly at random.

If it does go pop.....you just send it to MV automatics and get it built.

Do you know the price of getting a box built by them is by any chance?

As always, it depends how much you change at the same time as getting it fixed.

But, I think GTSBoy was referring to any part of the car going pop, not just the gearbox, they are far from new these days.

Remember you're buying a 25-30 year old car, expect things to randomly break. Also expect the wiring to be falling apart.

I have found out the box was built by MV Auto with the stage 2 so we good there, but yeah always expecting the worst 🤣
