shell... pm me your adsl phone number and i'll check the line for ya... gotta make sure your line has adsl codes on it. and what type of modem do you have... coz its easy to set it up on OSX. you dont even need to run the cd unless you want the modem in router mode. if your happy to have your modem as bridged... then all you gotta do is set up your network prefs.

lol as you said good luck in actually using it for the full month lol you will have to turn off all pictures on sites haha

another 30 bucks a month and you can have unlimited d/l's ..

so $29.95 for 200mb d/l

or $59.95 or unlimited

both on 256/64

Sending you my number now Ed - Thanks for this!!

your line is all good shell...

hmm how is your modem connected?? USB or ethernet?

USB wont work on a Mac so you gotta connect thru your NIC

how many lights you got on your modem?

Ah stuff it, i'll type it up from memory.

Mac OSX up to 10.2.8

SETUP:

From wall socket -> Modem, run a phone cable, either through the filter/splitter, or straight from the wall.

All other phones in the house need the Filters attached to them.

Run the Grey CAT5 cable from the 530 to the MAC into your Built in Ethernet. This cable looks like a phone cable, but a bit larger, has clear ends.

CONFIG:

Once plugged in, and the modem is powered.

Click the Apple Menu -> System Prefs -> Network.

Select 'Built In Ethernet' from the 'Show' menu.

Click the PPPoE tab.

Fill in these fields, 'Bigpond' as the 'provider', your username in the Account name field, followed by @bigpond. (if e.g. shelly@bigpond), password in the password field.

Tick the 'Show PPP status in menu bar' box.

Click on the TCP/IP tab. In the 'Search Domain' box, put in nsw.bigpond.net.au

Click Apply now. Close the Network Config window.

Now, open Internet Connect either from the Dock/Status in the menu bar, or through the Mac HD in the Applications folder. Change the 'Configuration' box to 'Built in Ethernet' if need be. Click connect. If all goes well, Connect will change to Disconnect, and you're away.

See if that works.

Ewen you legend for typing all that out! :)

Fill in these fields, 'Bigpond' as the 'provider', your username in the Account name field, followed by @bigpond. (if e.g. shelly@bigpond), password in the password field.

when i type in my password (4 digits) and click apply, it changes it to something (dunno what!!) with 8 digits???

Now, open Internet Connect

the password in here shows up as 4 digits...i hit connect...get an "authentification failed" :)

and my modem icon in the dock still looks like this (pic attached)... which I'm sure is supposed to mean there's something wrong with phone line connection...

i followed exactly what u said Ewen, I haven't got the USB plug in, and i've got 3 of the 4 lights happening on the modem....dunno what the hell i'm doing wrong!! damn this blonde hair LOL :P

Ewen i'm only running 10.1.5... furthest i could go with free upgrades cos my iMac is a few years old now.

Ed... i don't get what you mean? my password has always been 4 digits with my bigpond dial-up...should they have given me a new password for adsl?? And i don't think the account is disabled cos they're charging me for it!! i went on a 24 mnth contract when i signed up.

aaargh it's all to confusing...Ewen, you're gonna havta come & help me!! :D

Okay, when you received your Self Install Kit, you would have also received an email confirmation that had your new ADSL username and password in it. Different from your dial up one. If you ring 133933 they can tell you/reset for you, the password and tell you your username, just to confirm it. But if that's still not working, i'll pop round and see what can be done.

Shell... looks like thats your prob there.. your username and pwd..

you would have been given a new username and pwd for adsl... if you didnt get it then call that number ewen gave you... then you should be connected..your dial up username and pwd are not valid with adsl.

Something not to do with your connection.. im coming down today... anyone gonna be at work? be there prolli bout 3 or 4 ish... i'll drop by teletech anyway

well...where would i be without you guys? :grouphug:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

you're right...i should have a new username & password (which I was never sent - even went thru all my emails to make sure!)..

went into a telstra shop today to get them to set up the WAP stuff on my mobile and i asked about it and he said the same thing...so will get it sorted soon :P

    • The engine stuff is Greg Autism to the Max. I contacted Tony Mamo previously from AFR who went off to make his own company to further refine AFR heads. He is a wizard in US LS world. Pretty much the best person on earth who will sell you things he's done weird wizard magic to. The cam spec is not too different. I have a 232/234 .600/603 lift, 114LSA cam currently. The new one is 227/233 .638 .634. The 1.8 ratio roller rockers will effectively push this cam into the ~.670 range. These also get Mamo'ified to be drilled out and tapped to use a 10mm bolt over an 8mm for better stability. This is what lead to the cam being specced. The plan is to run it to 6800. (6600 currently). The Johnson lifters are to maintain proper lift at heavy use which is something the LS7's supposedly fail at and lose a bit of pressure, robbing you of lift at higher RPM. Hollow stem valves for better, well everything, Valve train control. I dunno. Hollow is better. The valves are also not on a standard valve angle. Compression ratio is going from 10.6 to 11.3. The cam is smaller, but also not really... The cam was specced when I generated a chart where I counted the frames of a lap video I had and noted how much of the time in % I spent at what RPM while on track at Sandown. The current cam/heads are a bit mismatched, the standard LS1 heads are the restriction to power, which is why everyone CNC's them to get a pretty solid improvement. Most of the difference between LS1->LS2->LS3 is really just better stock heads. The current cam is falling over about 600rpm earlier than it 'should' given the rest of my current setup. CNC'ing heads closes the gap with regards to heads. Aftermarket heads eliminate the gap and go further. The MMS heads go even further than that, and the heads I have in the box could quite easily be bolted to a 7.0 427ci or 454 and not be any restriction at all. Tony Mamo previously worked with AFR, designed new heads from scratch then eventually founded his own business. There he takes the AFR items and performs further wizardry, CNC'ing them and then manually porting the result. He also ports the FAST102 composite manifold: Before and after There's also an improved racing crank scraper and windage tray. Helps to keep oil in the pan. Supposedly gains 2% power. Tony also ports Melling oil pumps, so you get more oil pressure down low at idle, and the same as what you want up top thanks to a suitable relief spring. There's also the timing chain kit with a Torrington bearing to make sure the cam doesn't have any thrust. Yes I'll post a before and after when it all eventually goes together. It'll probably make 2kw more than a setup that would be $15,000 cheaper :p
    • Because the cars wheels are on blocks, you slide under the car.   Pretty much all the bolts you touched should have been put in, but not fully torque up.   Back them off a turn or two, and then tighten them up from under the car with the wheels sitting on the blocks holding car up in the air.
    • Yes. Imagine you have the car on the ground, and you mine away all the ground under and around it, except for the area directly under each individual wheel. That's exactly how it'd look, except the ground will be what ever you make the bit under each wheel from
    • Yes, if you set the "height" right so that it's basically where it would be when sitting on the wheel. It's actually exactly how I tighten bolts that need to be done that way. However....urethane bushes do NOT need to be done that way. The bush slides on both the inner and outer. It's only rubber bushes that are bonded to the outer that need to be clamped to the crush tube in the "home" position. And my car is so full of sphericals now that I have very few that I need to do properly and I sometimes forget and have to go back and fix it afterwards!
