I'm getting together what I need to install the front/rear glass after paint.

Is the molding retainer/molding fastener required for install of generic molding?

I just want to use readily available generic moldings for the install. I'm hoping that I don't have to use the retainer so replacement of the molding years down the line doesn't require pulling the glass back out.

I dont believe so. I had a mobile guy from racq glass come out and replace mine recently. I opted to go genuine nissan on all the seals, but he said i could of just gone generic seals for around $30.

$30 sounds alot better lol. I'll put that money towards a quick/easy mobile install

I've just been watching glass install vids and alot just use the rubber molding when the glass goes in. this is done on a variety of cars. I just didnt want to get my assumption roadblocked by bs Nissan 90s quirks.

Did you manage to get the front windscreen out without it breaking? When i had my seals replaced, i was also up for a new windscreen.

Hell no. I took my time with it too. That's the main reason I want to make it easy as I can If/when the molding needs replaced again.
