Hey everyone,

I've read quite a few articles and forums about this if not all of them, however I couldn't find anything that could help me. for a bit of context, I've had an accident and my pedestrian hood pop up system activated. I have replaced the actuators with resistors and replaced the module itself with a second hand one. However I still have the light on the dash, I've tried the pedal dance and tried clearing fault codes with a cheap scanned but nothing has worked. the light on the dash is solid unlike other instances when it flashes.

so my question is, what do I need to do now that I've replaced the actuators and the module, would the crash sensors store crash data and need replacement too? or do I need to find someone with a consult tool to reset the system? I don't think I can go to a dealer because I've replaced the actuators with resistors.

I believe @The Max solved it by resetting the module's EEPROM, but I don't have any access to the equipment needed and don't really know anyone in Sydney that does that kind of service, anyone has an idea if someone like that exists?

Does the different module need to be paired with the BCM for it to talk?  Are you sure the resistors are the correct value to imitate the bonnet actuators?  The impact may have damaged one of the sensors behind the bumper too.

I doubt any sensor would have the ability to store data, you may need someone who can read the codes to determine what is triggering the light.

The pedal dance is really difficult to do with the push button start as it takes a second or so for the button to actually turn the ignition on/off, so you have to compensate for that when pressing the button after 'x' seconds.

Nissan Datascan III might work, it can read a lot of the components in the Q50 (but not all).

I'm not sure if it needs to be paired with the BCM or not tbh, there's really no information online or a service manual that tells you what to do after replacing the module. I believe the resistors are correct, I bought them of ebay where the specific part number and system was mentioned and they came ready with the correct connector and everything.

With the pedal dance, I'm not sure if that can even solve my problem as it requires the light to flash, mine doesn't do that, it just stays solid the whole time.

I might look into getting that Nissan Datascan III software, see if it helps. Thanks mate.

    • Quick update.  The engine grounding strap was replaced, the engine is now happily running.  Tested the voltage drop before replacing the strap, was about 1.2ish volts down between engine to battery, chassis to battery. With the new grounding strap, pretty much no voltage drop at all.
    • I was chatting with an ex SAU person who is involved in chooning euros now. He was saying the factory cars like Audi VW etc have something like 2000 tables that the ECU uses for getting everything "just right". Compare that back to any aftermarket ECU, and you'd be hard pressed to surpass 50 lookup tables. Even the Ford Barra engine has a few hundred lookup tables to run it (and they're still working some tables out too!)
    • Grab a temp probe, and probe each exhaust inlet runner with it sitting idling. Each one should be pretty darn close to the same temp. If you've got some reading higher or lower than the others, it's likely either air flow isn't equal, or your injectors aren't equal to each other.   The other things to check, is from the wiring changes that were made, were any earth's or grounds moved/changed.   Lastly, for the strut brace issue. It's not perfect, but can you get away with slipping a washer or two under the strut brace to raise it, and it still clean the bonnet? If you can, work out the height you need, that the motor can't torque up into, and get a spacer made for each side.
    • That rusty R32 fuel tank is what we found in Clinton's R32. It has since been replaced with a R32 GTR tank and all it took was a bit of ingenuity in building new fuel tank hangers. I cannot believe how simple the R32 fuel level sender is compared to the R33 unit.
