Hi guys

I'm in the process of getting my tail shaft modified to suit a big box (rb25) going into a r32 and the shop has emailed me saying is going to be cheaper to make a single piece as the car is track use only is there any cons to going single piece?

Cheers

Go 2 piece, its worth the $$$$.

I have a 1 piece in my rb25 sil80 and its always had a weird frequency issue. I have a new 2 piece in the race car I am driving thursday so will update then.
Some events require a tailshaft loop for 1 piece so easy to go 2 piece, one less hassle.

Also only need to do front half with a new yoke.

@34GeeTeeTee any thoughts about single piece motorsport tailshafts

Yeah, Go 1pc they said... It'll be fun they said!

2pc is the only way to go in our cars, doesn't matter what the shop says... It is an expensive exercise to test their theory! Ask me how I know :P

I have no issues with my single piece driveshaft but I did muck about with my motor mounts to get a perfect +2, -2 degree's between trans and diff. Mind you, as I'm breaking my motor in amongst other things, I have not got over 120kmh.

Mine had no real issues for the first 4 rounds as most days were 170kmh max! Once I got over that and into the mid 200s it got scary! My engine and gearbox mounts are hardened rubber and the diff is solid mounted to a solid mounted subframe so I doubt angles or movement had anything to do with it. Will know for sure in a few weeks when I head back to test at SMSP before Round 6.

Only problem I have with the 1 piece is changing diffs, you have little to no room to side the driveshaft back and forth. Apart from that it’s a 3.5inch one and it’s fine, track has seen north of 220 with ease, car already makes lots of noises but driving it around town is no problem. Oh and dropping the gearbox is a pain but it’s the price you pay
