Kenwood Headunit Reverse camera options

Have a Kenwood DMX8520DABS 2-din headunit. Want to add a reverse camera as it has inputs for it. I know Kenwood have their own branded reverse cameras but can I use generic 1080p reverse cameras instead of the Kenwood branded? If so is there a minimum camera spec required for it to work or type and is the wiring required essentially the same - (Video, reverse trigger and power? )

Yeah should be. I'm pretty sure the $20 Kenwood/Pioneer one sold in shops are generics, because I bought two for separate installs (one Kenwood and one Pioneer apparently, about a year apart). Both were identical with the same wiring. Worked fine with Sony head units lol.
