Thanks fellas. I will talk to the guy. He used to import a lot of cars a year or so ago, but has moved onto other things. SO I may have to see if he's going to put it through my name or his (if his then might not be able to get out of degassing by the sounds of things)

Cheers

Best off asking the person that is importing the car for you, as it depends on what name is submitted when the import approval application is put in.  If you want to be absolutely sure then call or email them to find out for sure. ;)

One off vehicle for personal use dosent require de-gassing you customs broker will be able to help you.

If you mean doesn't require de-gassing before import then that appears to be the case for one off's. But DEH docs in my possession show that for at least one recent import case, a formal commitment was required to be provided to the DEH that the car would be converted to R134a (or similar) within 21 days of import.....see my post above for greater detail. The bottom line is that it does appear that conversion is required, just not prior to import....

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) have some sort of formal advice that conversion is not required....at all ??
